News about the NW munch

Ok guys, we're back on track! biggrin

Myself and Vicky_uk had a very good chat with the landlady earlier and she's decided that apart from a small group of her trusted regulars the pub will be ours for the night. She's even gonna provide a doorman or two to make sure it stays that way. That means there's room on the list for another hundred people at least so any concerns have disappeared.
The pub is plenty big enough and the usual Saturday DJ will be providing the music and a karaoke for those that want to prove they can't sing. Yes Kinky Lizard, there's also a pool table.
Prices in the bar will be standard pub prices and for those coming from the deep South that's for a pint of lager (the weaker stuff, not Stella). There will also be a free buffet but remember it's free so don't complain if it's not cordon bleu or there isn't enough garlic bread. mad

I know I keep harping on about the 'list' and 'numbers coming' etc but it's something that we really do need to know. Especially now that there's gonna be a doorman keeping out the passing trade. If your name's not on the list you're not gonna get in.

WOW another 100 potentially. Well I know how good I am at Karaoke and thats not going to stop me singing :twisted: so neeed to start thinking about not only what to wear but who I can get up to sing with me lol

Call me an old cynic if you like, but from my experience of other internet group gatherings (not SH munches i admit), there is always a "shrinkage" (no, not THAT sort...lol). If 100 say that they are coming, the total attendance will probably be about 70. So I wouldn't worry about the place being too crowded.

That's exactly what I thought about the first NW munch but virtually everybody that confirmed they were coming turned up. I must admit that I was pretty confident about them coming because I knew a lot of them personally and if they said they were coming then i knew that they would.
This one is a little different because I don't know the same percentage of people. Having said that though, from the reponses I've had by pm where people have confirmed and even told me which hotels they've booked into I'm pretty confident that the shrinkage isn't going to be anywhere near 30%.
Since my post earlier saying that the numbers weren't gonna be a problem any more a couple of people have been in touch with me concerned that I'm looking for another 100 people to fill the place. This isn't the case. I'm more than happy with the numbers we have and the 'rules' I've adopted for inviting people haven't changed.
If you're not known in the chatroom or you're not active in the forum then you're not going to get the details. It's that simple. There's no point sending me an e-mail (and I've had a lot recently) unless i personally know you. This is a social meet for active members of the site. Full stop.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record...........I need to know about everyone that is coming! A lot of effort goes into making sure that the people that go are the genuine article and this is done for the benefit and peace of mind of everyone that will be there. There will be no press, no unsavoury characters and no guys stood in the corner saying "I've got a 10" cock who wants it?" like they do in the chatroom.
Everyone that is going has been sent a list :small-print: If their name's not on the final list then they're not gonna get in.
This aint specifically aimed at you WBB. I just need to keep repeating it until everyone understands.

Tuc.... a munch is a social event only, so everyone is invited provided they're genuine - their gender doesn't matter.
