That's another thing that most people wouldn't want to be carrying around in a see through bag isn't it.... You might as well hold a huge sign saying "off on my holiday's looking to shag anything in a skirt"

I agree that there needs to be more stringent measures taken to ensure that another 9/11 doesn't happen but fgs are women not allowed some small measure of dignity?

I'd rather women (including myself) carry sanitary towels or tampons around than risk getting blown up because someone hid explosives in a tampon box.
How many are most women likely to need anyway? If you change before you go, you'd only need one or two. They get checked when your clear bag is checked, then you could put them in a pocket until you need them. They could then be put back into the bag just before your bag is checked when you're getting on the plane.

If it was me then for an 8 hour flight on either of the first 2 days I would need approx 24. 2 wouldn't last me an hour....

I for one will not "accept" draconian new measures in any area of my lifestyle in the name of safety, I'd rather live dangerously than not live at all. I certainly will not trust UK baggage handlers with the stuff I usually have in my hand lugagge.

The events of 2001 affected me in that I could no longer carry a swiss-knife, which I use daily on the road and hence is "essential".

We are consistently bombarded with messages that it is "our freedom" that these people are jealous of/want to destroy (an oversimplistic and innacurate position in my opinion). And yet the net result of all activties over the past few years is that our freedoms have been consistently reduced. I will not accept that. Those that do worry me.

OK folks - there is now a downgrade in the security alert and a small amount of hand luggage is now allowed.

On a slightly lighter note everything in a see through bag makes it a bit obvious if you're intending to join the mile high club and you have to declare your condom as an essential item.
