There are several phrases which people use to make an advert. A lot of adverts can end up looking very similar even if people have tried very hard to compose it themselves. So they often throw in 'no one liners' as part of the language.
I have always thought that the advertisers should reciprocate by making an effort to respond with more than one line also. But there is almost no requirement for this. If the adverftisers don't like the person, they are unlikely to spend time and effort producing a vast ream full of script about themselves and why they don't want you. So the most you'll get is a one liner response. Even if they are keen to meet, nobody sees any need to go into an overture of literary revelations prior to the meeting.
The logic being that if the return is only minimal, people are less likely to make an effort with the initial reply

I can't say I'm totally opposed to all one line replies, just certain ones. A couple of examples of the kind of replies I've received (and, yes, they're genuine):
"Have you got a cam?" - and that was it!! I actually answered this one, pointing them in the direction of the webcam thread.

why the hell would you e-mail a ad saying something as stupid as " male 53 any good?" any flucking good for what? mowing the lawn? putting up shelfs??? if you have read their ad and they they have set a age range, location etc etc then you would know if your close to fiting it?
if they have asked for no on liners then dont bleeding message them if your not prepared to write more.
have you had any luck in this one line emailing??

There is half a point here. Part of what he's saying I've thought as well, the advertiser says no one liners & must have facial pic then proceeds to write one line & no pic themselves. At least I think thatr's what he was getting at
Ah excellent there was someone who bothered to read and yes I can read the point I obviously did not put across to well.
My point was too many people request one liners, dont show pics themselvesand do not make much of an effort to receive anything more than one liners.
I would also like to see the vast majority of people who responded with such an insulting tone to maybe just be a little more appreciative that I am entitiled to a view and had you bothered to read something that wasnt a one liner you could have maybe answered with some help suggestions or at least be objective.
