I think they are all here at SH having a ball. Who needs Erotica, eh!
LC wink
Erm WTF I was told I was going by my "under the thumb" other half. confused :? whip
Obvioulsy the extensive research has been done by asking the girl at the local Tesco's who's never heard of the event in the first place.
TBH I think they did a lousy job of promoting it. We stumbled over an ad by accident a week before the event.
And the ticket service leaves a lot to be desired in my experience.
a spokesman for the event told Reuters. "People flock to our show in London but it seems that up here, the traditional northern male still calls the shots."

Bloody right we still call the shots!!
Right, must go............................. wife is due home soon and her tea isn't ready yet !!!! redface surprisedops:

Northerners are too canny to pay loads of money for overpriced "fetish" wear, which is what a lot of the exhibition seems to consist of.

You might well have hit the nail on the head, Mike. I've never been to one of these things, but I certainly won't pay over the odds for anything, ever!
Blue - very northern and very mean with money cool
Well we did tell it was a load of shite after the London one . Glad the canny folks listened (£3 for a bottle of warm Heineken kiss my southern ass! ) :-)
Organisers said their research shows northern women wanted to attend the three-day adult show but were "under the thumb of their other halves".

Since when??????

We shag all day Friday, everyone knows that wink

And any other day we can!
according to one tabloid press today
Half of all women own a sex toy, a sensational new survey has shown.
And they are set to outsell washing machines, with 2.4 million girly gadgets being bought a year.
Ann Summers has just announced a 10% increase in sex toy sales.
And a survey by Durex shows that more than half of couples use an aid to spice up their love life.
They questioned 10,000 couples and found the North East is the naughtiest region with 55 % owning a toy. Couples in Yorkshire are the next keenest with 51%. The survey also showed the most popular toy is a vibrator with 53% using one.
Jacqueline Gold of Ann Summers said: "The further North you get the naughtire people get. Our Manchester shop has been out top seller for years."

What about the people who own multiple toys????? LOL
Just too tight to pay for over priced shite! lol
I mean who on earth would pay more than for a pint in the north???
a pint????
I don't go in those upmarket places.
I only pay for my pint of Fosters.
Well we've been.
Show wasn't bad. There's 1 of the pole girls that we both thought was very sillyhwoar:
A couple of item's weren't a bad price, but the venue is half empty and most of the stuff was far overpriced. You could buy it in Manchester or on line for less.
Not surprised they don't do well in Manchester really.
Sorry to say I was a little disappointed. sad
Oh and our tickets never showed, so we had to call their booking number at national rate and listen to how we could book on-line for 10 mins, because they were incapable of sending us an email to acknowledge the fact we had a problem. mad

Did you go to the ball in the evening? I thought the exhibition was not that good apart from the show, most of that stuff could be bought in Camden Market or Soho for less money. But we enjoyed the show and it was a good precursor to the ball in the evening, which I thought was superb - some nice costumes worn, good atmosphere and great stage acts by Tourture Garden.

Nope, we didn't go to the ball. I believe it was at 21 Picaddilly. confused Not the best location ever IMHO (club-snob that I am lol ).
The show was good. We caught the first show of the day and I get the feeling a few of the dancers had been out  the night before. redface as some of the timing was a little off.
The costumes were fab though. Thoroughly commend TG for their stuff.
As an aside I did notice they had a latex racing driver-style suit with "Easy" all over it.... surprisedops:   Saying nothing more about that. innocent
Would we go next year (as their brochure says they will be doing it again), probably not.
Given the hassle with tickets and the lack of reasonable priced goods (and when they were reasonably priced they were obscure sizes) and small number of traders I'd say it's not worth it.
I'd probably put the money towards a weekend in London and visit Soho instead.
But that's my opinion. I'm sure there were plenty others who went and had a great time.
We went (as Mrs SX was exhibiting her artwork there), so we were there all weekend from about 10am to 10pm everyday.
Hardly any stalls, hardly any visitors, a repetitive boring show and extremely overpriced refreshments ( for a sarnie).
Needless to say, we won't be exhibiting again - but will give London a shot - apparently the average spend per head in London is £150 - and there are something 70,000 people through the doors the whole weekend.
That moral of this story is to organise your social life round SH events, socials, parties, and munches....
Why try the rest when SH is the best
cool 8-) 8-)
lol

Obviously an event like this is not the easiest to advertise and promote, but apart from mentions on this and another board, I never saw it advertised, so what did they do to whip up (no pun intended) - ( oh alright I did) awareness of the show? I have organised Exhibitions and Fairs for many years, and it never ceases to amaze me that organisers think that the public are mind readers. When the trade bookings and ticket sales are low, and not on budget, they tend to pull back on adverts, instead of pushing the boat out a bit further, to make it a success.

Personally I would far rather spend the money on entrance to a swingers' club, rather than a trade show.

I have to agree with Blue..why bother when SH has it all..just need the Scottish side to organise more..more and more..fek it be greedy!!!

I've been to the London Erotica twice. The first year it was too packed and we were pushed and shoved, there was no place to rest one's feet, huge queues at the bars and so on. They had a good show of old-fashioned strip tease (complete with the feather fans) which was a turn-on but when they got on to the modern stuff it was a disaster.
The second year we went, the exhibition was much quieter and easy to browse, we gave the shows a miss but went to the lecture instead (so as to rest our legs!) Did not bother with food and drinks and made a quick exit after we had seen what we wanted.
Someone told us that the Skin II Expo was far better and indeed it was. Smaller venue, good choice of stalls and a nice little restaurant upstairs with lots of seats. Plus easy parking at the Barbican instead of fighting for parking space at the Erotica.
I personally believe the Erotica is much of a muchness - seen it once, you've seen it all. And it was unkind of the organisers to blame the Northerners for its failure.
Yeah, the togs and models on another site I use felt it was rather shite.
I belive/heard they had booked the venue nearly 3 years in advance but failed to promote it properly and are now in a hump saying they wont hold another in manchester... well DOH!
