I have been a member since year one and have had some very pleasurable meetings with all sorts of people and done some very naughty things with them. However there are so many wannabe's at large that have huge sex organs (Yeh the one between the ears) that they haven't got room for common courtesy like just sending a "No Thanks" message. C'mon people, be polite. OK Rant over. SAGALOUT.

Sadly, we, too, have been disappointed that some folk don't trouble to drop us a line, just to say "thanks, but no thanks". Mind you, it makes such a nice change when we do get a reply, even if it is a "No". Its nicer if its a "Yes" though.
Its not just on SH, though, getting folk to call back or reply in writing is almost as difficult as finding Gordon Brown to be a nice guy!!!

I'm afraid you've raised an old chestnut- try searching the subject, and you'll find the same thing time & again.
If you're inundated with winks & PM's replying can take an age. It's nice when people do- but don't hold your breath as most people just don't have the time.

I'll always reply to messages (but then again I don't get very many - on a Swingers site I think it's called "single man syndrome") I just love the fact I have something to read - even if a gay 75 year old guy messages me to say I read your profile and thought you looked nice I'd thank him.

Sometimes I'm a bit perplexed as to why I have received a message. Especially one that sounds like it has been cut and pasted and sent out to every woman within a 50 mile radius. 
I'll be honest, sometimes I let them sit and fester in my inbox before I reply and do the 'thanks but no thanks' thing. Sometimes

I have to hold my hand up and say I don't always reply to messages... Mainly because people haven't got past the pics or bothered to read my ad 1st. How do i know? Because 9/10 are none of the criteria i look for, are miles out of my age group i want and over 200 miles away.
So if they cannot be bothered to read... why should i reply?

Im one of those who doesnt answer many pms
why? most dont read my profile properly (there isnt that much writing there honestly) when they read my profile and undestand what is written then they get a reply
If i answer "no thanks" i get a reply of "why not? am i to fat/thin/ugly/old/young/are you a timewaster.............." ending up in a conversation i dont really want to have

I don't have an ad, my profile makes it quite clear that I'm not looking but I still get mail from people saying 'nice ad' and one even started 'hello you two'. Why should I reply when they are either stupid or send out so many mails they don't even read profiles anymore.

I used to reply to every one of my messages but it takes a long time for your fingers to grow back :shock:

Admittedly my ad is a tad long.. but it does weed out some people.. if they don't read it properly, they won't know that I don't reply to winks... but if I do get an email with some body in it, I will reply, even if its only no thanks... but when you get a lot, it is difficult to deal with!!

1 mail from guy asking to meet me Sat 26th, and another Monday 28th from 1 who is married. It clearly states on my advert i do not meet married or attatched guys.
I wonder which part of Friday 25th july is not clear?

Yes, you're right, manners cost nothing - and most of the time I do reply - if they've got my name right, are obviously replying to something or are just saying 'Hi'. But I don't reply to obvious carpet bombers, I don't reply to junk mail in the real world, I don't reply to spam in e-mail, I don't see why here should be any different. Somebody said earlier about a 'no-thanks' often getting a reply of 'why not?', that does put me off replying, I end up getting hate mail calling me all sorts of things simply because I was being courteous(sp?)
Oh, and by the way, the shower was nice and warm, no shivers involved
