No referendum on Europe. If there was ever an idictment on MP's this has got to be it! For f*ck knows how many years we have been promised one but no we asre just children unable to think for ourselves no right to decide.

If you really thought we would get a referendum on this, then you was easily duped. It is obvious that if it was put to a vote it would be thrown out. They know that and we know that. Most of the MP's are greedy arrogant people, and take us all for mugs!! They NEVER intended to give us the vote!
This Labour Government has sold us all down the river, but they dont care as they will still pick up their fat wages and greedy pensions. Like their manifestos..they should be legally binding documents as they use this to gain our votes. Con artists who treat us like crap but...what goes around. lol

Mr Lost, my already rock-bottom perception of our elected representatives now reaches new depths after their petty antics of the last few days and the broken promises on which they were elected by us, their masters.
The way Labour bang on about the Lisbon Treaty as not requiring a referendum is truly disgraceful and the way they have inhibited debate will go down as the point in which their true colours were shown.
Want to be scared of this "treaty"? Read some of these quotes....

So what's the alternaive? It's time for a new political party to rise up who represent the English and will stand up and be counted when it matters and not bend over to Europe.
But who will do this? I have no idea but am totally convinced it will have to happen in the next 10 years as "middle england" is not going to suffer the idiots we currently enjoy, we see little or no benefit for the additional taxes we pay and the way our country and its values are being eroded without our say is not going to be forgotten.

Er. I actually don't want there to be a referendum. Basically because I think that the European Union represents the only hope for the salvation of the human race, and if we had a referendum... the result would obviously go the wrong way.
Same reason I don't want a referendum on capital punishment... whoops, that was another thread...

The Euro thing has been going on for decades. It seems like there will always be endless unfinished debates about all sorts of things.
I think it has turned into an intellectual and professional debating theatre, where people can have a career, which for the large part, produces nothing.

Def right there. Still it wont be long before this Government gets kicked out. 10 years of mainly rubbish by a Government that has sold our history down the river. They bring in a smoking ban thats decimated the pub industry, 28 pubs closing a day. Running a car has become so expensive, but they blame the car driver for the worlds polution. Its all a big con just to extort as much money out of us as possible. Europe and no referendum is the only way the French and Germans can rule us. They have spent centuries trying to beat us, now we are giving it to them on a plate. God help us!! :shock:

The French voted to have a referendum. As it presently stands, the French still love the Franc (everything here is priced in Francs as well as €'s) and most French people calculate the value of things in Francs before they buy in €. It is said here that the French would abandon the € given half a chance!
The Germans? well, now that's another story...

Even the people who wrote the treaty dont understand it! They have made it almost impossible to understand, and there lies the problem...signing up to something that nobody understands will always be open to abuse and fraud.
I dont want the treaty, I dont want to be French or German....I want to remain English, and all that is still English...though fast going down the drain. :shock:

There shouldn't need to be a referendum on anything as we elect our MP's to act on our behalf and wishes. If people feel so strongly about it they should ALL write to their local politicians saying they wont get their vote should they be in favour of whatever it is they're unhappy about.........if that makes sense.
BUT the fact that half of them turn into complete Colin Hunts is another matter.

I`m not really sure of my facts, but I had understood that part of this governments manifesto promised a referendum. But that now they have changed the wording of something or other and are now pretending that it`s not the thing that they promised the referendum for !!!
So, yes they do get voted in to act on our behalf, but it appears that they lied about this bit to get votes.
What a surprise ! My goodness, lying two faced politicians !! whatever next ?
First of all they called it a " constitution ", then because they did not want us to vote on it they changed it to a " treaty ". It is really the same thing but just worded different.
They will of course now say we said a free vote on the constitution, but we did not agreee to a vote on a treaty!!
They are as guilty as hell on this, and steamrollered over all of us. Still what do you expect in Grim Britain? mad
