Dear Correspondents Please could anyone tell me if the naturist beach at Point of Ayr near Prestatyn is still safe to use, and perhaps if applicable any necessary directions for getting there (if it is not obvious once you approach the area). Or do you know anywhere else around the Rhyl area where sun worshippers can go for the all over experience. Thank you folks
We have an old (1997) naturist guide that gives a map reference and details for Point of Ayr. We've never been though and don't know anyone that has so don't know what the current status is. Pm if you want the information that we have. Ric n Jax

I was dragged kicking an screaming from the age of 4 up to my teens to ryhl abergele towyn and i never new there was a naturist beach there, SO that's why my old man used to go of on long walks on his own....lol. and does the sun come out long enough in north wales????? i think i spent most of my time bailing out the caravan??? sorry no help here i'm affraid
This is a little off topic, but you might find it interesting none the less... In the centre of Munich (a city in Germany for the uninitiated)... a rather large corner of the public park is set aside for nude sunbatheing. And it realy does get well used by pritty much every type of person you could ever imagine. It was quite amusing to see all the secretaries and business men come out of the offices in their suits at about 4:30... neatly fold everything up and catch a couple of hours of sun. It is the first time I have sunbathed nude... and based on the massively positive experience would do it again. Its quite nice sitting in the park with big trees and office buildings on the horizon. Don't know if I would do so in England tho... the Germans have a remarkably open attitude to getting your bits out on just about every beach or public space... over here I think people are on a mission to make you cover up these days!

I did find the dunes at Point of Ayr and it was very windy all week. Still I did get a piccie taken to prove I was there, don't tink my appendage would have looked quite as sizeable as our new friend Chirs though. I got there through the village of Talacre. Should I have gone right from there beyond the Twitchers Hide? I just got to the dunes after walking across the large flat muddy car park as there was just a couple of dog walkers around. Hi... I found this forum while searching for nudist/naturist stuff... I'm maybe a bit late answering the question, but I CAN answer it! First of all, I'm not into swinging, I just saw that there was an interest in nudism/naturism here. I'm looking for a female partner (preferbly a younger one) into nudism or naturism, perhaps even a bit of exhibitionism! Ok, to answer the question.... it is OK to sunbathe nude at The Point of Ayr in North Wales... but with descretion. The way to find it is to find the Talacre holiday park, just off the A548, turn off at the roundabout and drive up to the beach car park. Then walk west along the beach away from the lighthouse. About quarter of a mile from the lighthouse, where the dunes are quite high, you can sunbathe nude in the dunes. However, you can't walk around nude on the beach or behind the dunes... there have been complaints from people using a path at the back of the dunes. There is a Warden who doesn't have a problem with discreet nude sunbathing in the dunes but will call the police if someone is blatantly walking around naked... there have been problems with flashers there. Just up the road at Prestatyn there's a better option. Find Pontins, again just off the A548 (on the East side of Prestatyn), drive past Pontins along Barkby Avenue, there are two car parks at the top, one next to the mini golf course and one on the front. Park at either. Then either walk along the beach, or across the golf course and up onto the dune paths (there are wooden steps), heading East from about half a mile from the car park you can go nude. Some people still try to be discreet and hide in the dunes, but this beach, Barkby Beach, is known and and accepted (particularly by locals) as one used by Naturists. I have walked about freely in the nude and sunbathed both on the beach and in the dunes, with no problems. There have been complaints, but mainly from women out walking dogs who have been confronted by the occasionbal idoit intent causing offence by 'flashing'.. generally meaning that they stand there in the woman's way with an erection and often masturbate. The majority of 'nudists' here seem to be single and/or gay men. There are occasionally couples and on rare occasions, single women. Most clothed people I have met on the beach have had no objection to nudity. This beach could do with more nude visitors, particularly couples and single women. It's a great beach... I have some photos of it if anyone wants to see them! :D
