Oh Dear What Can The Matter Be?

Today at Uni I joined an Online Forum with a Uni Friend and I used the same user name that I do on here......he decided to google me and found this website attached to my name..... :shock:
He said he was Shocked....but I think 'horrified' would have been a better word.....
This is not good, I feel outed and a little vulnerable although he said he wouldn't say anything to anyone..... sad

I had a guy in the chatroom last night worried about a similar thing. He'd googled his own e-mail address and his photo-ad came out top of the list. He was more than just a little perturbed. confused

The only thing I could recommend was that he delete his ad and create a new one using the anonymous e-mail address option. He did this but when he repeated the search the link to the old photo-ad still came up. I suggested that he contact google and ask them to remove the link fron their cache and when he did they responded almost immediately and told him it would be removed in the next 3 to 4 days.
Your case is slightly different in that the search engine picked up on your user name from the forum. Everybody needs to be aware that this site is optimised for search engines and a search on anybody's username will probably bring back a hit. If you want to keep yourself anonymous then you need to keep whatever username you choose unique to this site only.
Not very helpful in your case Helen but maybe for others.

Helen,i do feel sorry for you as if that happened to me i think i'd feel pretty vunerable myself.
At the end of the day i think youve just got to rise above it,its your life and your entitled to do whatever you like with it.
But it does sound a little odd that they did a search though.
