It`s a beautiful sunny day in Kent :bounce:
Unfortunately, I have to use the A20 and the A25 going about my business today, which means I am plagued with bikers riding like lunatics !!! :fuckinghell:
On my way along the A25 ten minutes ago I was overtaken by five bikes in a row, obviously racing each other at speeds far in excess of the speed limit !!
I daren`t go any where near Wrotham Hill today because I know it`ll be total chaos....
Why is it, that when these people fall off and kill themselves, it`s always the car drivers fault ??? dunno And how long will it be before the police actually do something about this menace on our roads ??? Where is British justice when these lunatics are allowed to terrorise the public roads ??

interesting thread , (mr fun here) i have been riding motorcycles since 1982 and in that time have had 3 quite serious accidents and each time it WAS the fault of a 4 wheeled vehicle driver and each time i was riding safely and each time i've sued their goddamned asses lol
As a biker, it gets my back up when just because of a few lunatics we get marked with the same brush, yes there are a fews bikers who dont think of what they are doing, just as there are car drivers who drive to fast in the wrong places.
When the weather is nice, of course you will see an increase of bikers out, as that is when the roads are safer. Car drivers often think just cos a biker has overtaken them, that we are in the wrong.....
having done an advance test, i can honestly say a lot of car driving drive round thinking that they own the road, and are easyly distracted by the stereo, sat nav, kids, cigarettes, food, you name it... they do not see all the hazards or the passing opportunities. yes riding bikes is a danderous hobby but one that bike riders undertake knowing that getting it wrong spells bad news..
I personally feel that everyone should have to do a bike test before a car test, only then will you get drivers who see both sides of the coin and yes before you say, i have passed both...
many people say that biking is dangerous, some want it banned, but look at the stats, most accidents are caused by car drivers not being aware of how fast (and i mean legal speed) a bike can appear, it has been scientifically proven that its hard to judge the speed. if you dont believe me, go to a train station and watch a fast train approach and go past the platform....
not all bikers are lunatics....
right rant over.

For some perhaps it maybe but not for all...

I dont see how that would help dunno
Id just like to add I've never seen a biker riding whilst....
chatting on a mobile
using a lap top
applying make up
brushing their hair
reading a map
reading a book
reading a paper
leaning over to change cd
leaning over to find a radio station
retrieving a dropped cigarette from their lap
eating and drinking
pulling out to slow a car driver down in a traffic jam
loosing concentration while arguing with their passenger
checking their appearance in the rear view mirror
I'm sure there are more
Car drivers should learn to ride a bike before they critcise the vast majority of bikers.

Massive generalisation alert! :P SOME bikers ride like wankers, not all of us do wink

Obviously Flowers is a car driver, so either he's one of the people that drives at 40 in the middle lane of the motorway or he's got a modified motor and likes to do handbrake turns and burnouts on Tesco's carpark on a Saturday night while playing "banging tunes" on his 200dB car stereo.
Surely there's no other type of driver? confused :? :?
Speaking as a bike rider/car driver and the only near misses I've had on the bike have been while filtering in standing traffic and people moving over to try to block my progress or switching lanes without seeing me, despite reflective jacket and main beam on. :? :? :?

There is I feel a world of difference between motorcycling responsibly and being a tit. The guys on Wrotham hill are invariably tits, from what I have observed. How you can drive your bike into a hedge and not be charged with careless or dangerous driving I don't know.
.

Nice to see somebody with some local knowledge admitting to the problem !!
I have no problem with "responsible" bikers ..
I love bikes .... some people insist on defending the indefensible.. lol
Is that why nobody ever defends you? dunno

C. pleased as punch so ride on such a nice day.
I also ride my back on the crappy wet days when I communute into London.
There are many bikers out there I dont feel all should be tarred with the same brush.

Could somebody point me to the bit in my post where it says "ALL" bikers ??
I`ve read it over and over and I still can`t see it
But you dont say...why do a small minority or something akin and myself like most bike riders on here took it to be a sweeping generalisation.

Doesn't specify any particular kind of biker, so you can't blame folks who are bikers for taking offence.

I did qualify the statement later in my post by talking very specifically about the ones riding like lunatics ..... if you don`t ...why on earth would you take offence ??
You asked and I offered my opinion .... and

I agree Iv got lots of friends that are bikers. There are lots of unsafe car drivers that cause accidents with other drivers, riders and predestrians.
When people learn to ride bikes they are taught to ride a bike looking for all the dangers on the road from other vehicles to keep themselves safe.
I used to have a bike myself and so did my ex hubby.
Some people are like slinkies ...... completely pointless ....but they always raise a smile when you push them down the stairs ...

I was just wanted to make you feel less pointless I guess, I'm helpful like that.
