Intro first, I suppose.
Rollo Tomassi. Late 40s white single male, West London, chubbier than I should be but working on that. Committed non smoker - your right to smoke, my right not to have to. 2 teenage kids who visit occasionally. Reasonably bright - well, I've got good academics, so someone thinks I am. Definitely not ugly, but nothing too special either.
Work in Central London, don't have either the time or the inclination for another permanent relationship, but not looking to become a monk either. Sound familiar?
100% straight, honest, discrete. What am I looking for? Don't know yet, too early to tell and to be honest, not being exhibitionist at all, not sure of much! Be gentle on me.
Now then, a question I tried to search out an answer for but with no results.
When is it polite to PM someone and when not?
Thanks.
Welcome to the site Rollo Tomassi, very nice first post!
As for when to pm and when not to, well I have been here nearly a year and dont really know that there is a definate answer to that. I often pm people and if it is someone I dont know, I would normally start with something like 'sorry to pm you uninvited but .....' and just take it from there.
I supose it also depends what you are pm'ing someone about. If you are asking to meet the person, then personally I always answer pm's like this with a thanks but no thanks reply. but if someone had pm'd me about something I may have posted, then I would always answer.
Sorry, dont know if I have helped or just confused the situation!
But hope you have loads of fun while you are searching for your answer lol

Welcome RT. Do not attempt to leave. You are now the property of SH. biggrin
PMs:
Rule 1: Don't start a conversation with "fancy a shag?"
Rule 2: Obey Rule 1
That's about it really. If you see someone interesting in the forums, I don't see any reason not to introduce yourself in a PM. You'll probably find it easier to approach people if you've participated in the open forums and got to know a bit about some people that way before PMing them, but I wouldn't say there's any hard and fast ideal time to initiate a private conversation. What I would say though, is don't PM someone unless you actually have something to say, otherwise you could end up with a real short conversation:
YOU: "Hi... errrr... just thought I'd say Hi."
THEM: "Errrr... hi."

The End. confused
Take your time, have a look around, get a feel for what the place is about, join in when you're ready, and don't feel you have to try and shag everyone in the first week.
Enjoy. :D
