My problem with you was that you turned out to be a very different person to the person who befriended me last year. I thought you were a genuine friend, and in the end, I was just someone you could use for a while to make someone else jealous.

I thought the whole idea of the Steam Room was to sound off on certain things that hack you off.............

Sorry - you misinterpreted me - my point was that there are "munches" coming up that many people have put time and effort into organising. Whilst I agree with removing the site sanction and renaming these as "socials" I do not see that it is the mods/ops perogative to say they should be cancelled.

Bollocks - if you take on authority your comments will still be read with that authority even if you claim to just be "a member".
These issues were supposedly being dealt with by the mods in private according to Jags (With her Mod hat on). For Mal to take his hat off and then come in here and Rant then go back and deal with the same issues in private with his Mod hat back on is going to cause problems and is at best ill advised in my opinion.

Sorry Roger, I wasn't aware that Mods weren't allowed a personal opinion.
But don't presume that because one person, who happens to be a Mod, makes a post, that they are talking for all Mods. Thanks biggrin

I am not entering into the politics of anything in here.
I do not know all the facts - nor do I want to know them.
However my feeling is the Steam Room is now being abused.
It should never be used for personal sniping.
There are many new people who come on here with trepidation.
Wondering about dipping their toes in.
Some of the comments in here would make SH seem like a crocodile pit.
Now - before anyone at all thinks that comment was intended at any person(s) in particular - it is NOT - I do not know any of the individuals, and so would never presume to comment.
It is about time to start thinking of the good of the site.
Mark has put a lot of effort into making this a great site.
We should not abuse the priviledge of being here - whether we are mod or member.
It is to Mark's credit that he has kept back and just observed.
Please can a line be drawn under this and any further arguments be carried on in private?

I am not saying Mal is not entitled to his opinion - but that opinion will be read as that of Mal the Mod as well as Mal the member.

Don't you think that, in this conversation, if the mods waded in there would be cries of censorship? It may be a good thing that there has been a lot of heavily held opinions and ranting, it gives everyone a chance to clear the air and see a little bit of what that shit was way over on the horizon rather than let their minds run riot with speculation, a discussion of this magnitude couldn't be held by PM. I feel it has helped me a little even if only that it has crystalised some fact from rumour and conjecture.
Oh, and some of the newbies, I'm sure, will hang about long enough to see the supportiveness of the community after the storm.

I do know what you mean Chris - I wasn't commenting on the actual fact or fiction of whatever has or has not been said. I have been watching the thread over the last couple of days but I don't want to comment on any of the details as they are none of my business.
But there has to be a time when enough is enough, before is spirals completely out of control.
There is already one thread about someone being apprehensive about attending a munch.
Reading this thread they are now probably terrified!
I just feel it's time for everyone to step back and take a deep breath.
Regardless of anything else - this is not a life or death matter.
There are far more important things in this life to put such energy into.
But - they are only my feelings.
I won't and have no wish to pass comment/judgement/opinion on any other member/mod here.
