Only today I read about a young mother of two who married into a family from hell and eight members of that family systematically beat her to death over a period of months. They eventually killed her and dumped her body. She was just 20 years old.
I think most women will leave their partner in the end if he abuses her, the women you spoke about in your postings obviously did or they wouldn't be meeting you saying what did happen to them, the thing is it takes time to build up the courage and actually find somewhere to stay, it really is not as easy as running out in the middle of a beating, where do you go for a start? i went to the police stated and was told to go home like a good girl as they don't waste time on domestics as the women only end up going back anyway, i was 18 years old and walked the street all night cause i was to scared to go back, but go back i did in the end cause i had nowhere else to go so the beatings carried on, and i stayed with him for 4 years untill i decided enough was enough and i just got a bus ticket and left with only the clothes on my back, didn't have a clue where i was going, its not a easy thing to do and women who stay with such men do not always do it cause they are weak, its more offen than not fear and lack of help, yeah the helps there....in theary....but wait till you need it and still see if it can be found!

Just to pick up on your last two paragrapsh TJ, I personally feel (and I'm only speaking for myself here obviously) that rather than saying that Wishmaster is misguided, I'd be more inclined to say that his reasoning behind his opinions is only a part of the story. I'm not for a minute saying that he should change his mind about whether he thinks Pride marches should happen, but he says on the one hand that they should keep their sex lives to themselves, and on the other that 200 years ago gays would have been stoned to death simply for being gay. If not for Pride marches, gay rights campaigns and the like, surely the same thing would still be happening today?
Yes, we ARE all entitled to our opinions, but IMHO if you have an opinion as strong as Wishmasters against something, and you post those views on an open forum in such hostile language, you should expect that people with opposing views will want to put their opinions across, and also add further information into the debate. The way I see it at the moment, this is what's happening.
(Please note that I am only talking about the original point though, ie Pride marches.)

I've just started to read through this tonight and frankly am appalled at some of the comments you've made. Given that this is a swingers site, setup for people of all pursuasions, I'd have expected more. Alas this isn't the case.
I feel I have to respond to some of the misguided comments you've made:
You introduced the argument about the magazine that "outs" people who don't want to be outed and asked who gives them the right? I don't agree with the tactic, but the reason they do it is because there are a lot of hypocrits in senior positions (government, clergy, legal profession etc) who are gay but dish out shit treatment to other gay people. Two wrongs don't make a right but I have more sympathy with those who seek to do the outing than with those who are outed.
The fact that your sexuality is known by a few people here in no way detracts from the fact that you are making derogatory comments. You have clearly offended a number of people on here - the responses pay testimony to that.
You said that gay people are no longer beaten up......uhm, just what do you base this severely incorrect opinion on? This happens on a regular basis as has already been documented in a response.
You said gays should stop talking about it because "your sex life is your business". Uhm, am I missing something or isn't Swinging Heaven an avenue that encourages people to be more open about their sex lives? Where's the difference? If you don't like it, don't listen. No-one is forcing you to attend gay (or any other minority) celebrations or to talk to them.
Why do you think it has been necessary for the European and UK governments to introduce legislation to prevent discrimination? Do you think they thought "well there obviously isn't any but we'll change the law anyway"? You made the fundamentally flawed statement that gays (and other minorities) seem to want more rights than "normal" people....this is not the case. The minorities simply want equality. In fact I think it needs to go further than this.....what we all should want is the right to be different. Everyone has similarities and differences.
Pride celebrations (contrary to your views) are not about celebrating "taking it up the shitter". They are to do with a complete lifestyle....sex is a small part of the whole and isn't an integral part of the celebrations.
I don't judge anyone on what they do (in bed or elsewhere) and I respect their right to celebrate and do whatever they want providing it doesn't interfere with my life. I just wish everyone else was the same.

I watched a programme on TV the other night about the 80's gender benders. B/George: "I did it first, it sooooo pissed me off when Marylyn came out with HIS record!" .... I mean c'mon .... get a grip...... they can't even live with each other ffs..... and they expect the rest of society to embrace them ..... they're no different to any other cross section of society .... couples argue all the time..... people 'snipe' at each other all the time...... there isn't nothing SPECIAL about being Gay. There are dozens of people who are handicapped in one way or another in today's society but do you see them having Pride marches ffs..... no.... they get on with it, they deal with it...... and they progress..

The first guy was fined and publicly humiliated and his wife left him (A mate of mine actually)
The Judge: case abandoned, pay off, retired from public life on health grounds.
