wow four years just flew by i still remember athens so clearly...........so how do you guys think we'll fair this time around will we meet our potential, oh and who'll be following what??
four more years and London whoppee, but i'll be so old?! sad
I'll probably watch the track events, equestrian, gymnastics and then highlights of other stuff.
cool Doubt I'll be staying up to catch it live though!
I love the track events, the shortish ones.....i cant stand anything longer that 1500 metres...i get bored after that!
love the gymnastics too, especially the womens...so much more graceful!,
but my faves of the whole thing, are the 100 metres, the 4x 100m relay and the 110 m hurdles!
I won't be watching or acknowledging this Olympics at all. IMO any athlete of good conscience should boycott this event in protest at China's apalling human rights' policies, especially concerning Tibet.
If China were a poor third world country, we and the Americans would have invaded it by now.
love the seimming, the 3day eventing and just seeing all those nice tight bums

Won't be watching any of it!

Boring, boring boring.
You watch some of it and 30 minutes later you want to watch some more.
In any case, like others I don't wish to support the Chinese involvement in this in any way.
I'm sure the Chinese people would prefer to be treated like humans rather than being treated to a $300 million opening ceremony.
There's only one thing worse than reality TV and that's bloody sports. rolleyes
not really a fan of the olympics, but might watch the football, and possibly the cycling since i used to involved in that line with work.

Without hyjacking the thread too much, why are ther never any calls to boycot any events in America, the land of the free- unless you are a resident of Guantanamo bay or Iraq dunno
i cant survive without sports, olympics is just like a big orgy to me...ill be following nearly all events ...100,200,400,1500,5000,1000metres marathon both men and women, high jump, football, basketball, shot put, javeline, swimming, boat race, tennis, boxing, hockey
1x400metres plus we got a team on 1x100 relay and Tyson Gay v powell on 100metres but cant stand fencing, horse crap anything to do with ice
but after watching the a brilliant opening ceremony London has alot to do to match that.
i do feel sorry about Tibet but point out a perfect country!Russians just bombed 1400 Georgians today,
I don't tend to get into the olympics till week 2 (that is when the athletics starts)... week 1 is dominated by the swimming which i have little interest in....
but there is a little basketball game that may well end up being huge on sunday morning.... china vs USA....
will watch murray in the tennis and some of the rowing to get me started...
other than that... i like the events we don't see often in the UK.... if you get a chance at some point to see the water polo then do... it is really rough!!!
I wonder if Tibet are competing this year?
Perhaps in the 100 metres run for your life event?

Well it does involve a lot of women getting very wet, most times there are several at it at once. Then lots of people like to watch them doing too.

There would be a whole lot more if the swimming costume looked more like this...
GYMNASTICS GYMNASTICS GYMNASTICS!!! A couple of my friends are competing- woohoo!!!! can't wait to see them!!! m xxx
I can completely understand why the athletes aren't buoycotting- for some this is the only time in their life the can compete, and they have trained their whole life for the chance- why should politics to get in the way of things.
I do, however, think the whole thing is going to end in disaster, and wish it wasn't happening there.

I will be keeping a close eye on that 14 year old diver. What a talent he is.
Each time the olympics seem to have more and more sports. I like the 100 metres and some of the swimming and the divers,( not talking about footballers there lol ).
Dont know too much about our chances fro medals, but the opening ceremony was awesome, just hope the rest of the games are as good as that. Also lets hope there are no cheating druggies there.

to give you some kind of indication... the BOA target was 11 golds and 41 medals in total......
the opening ceremony was amazing... loved the bit right at the beginning with the drummers and the lights....
if you get a chance if you have digital TV.... hit red on the bbc channels and go on olympic interactive, one of the options is sometimes "olympic memories" where it goes thru all the biggest memories from rome thru to athens.... it is amazing.....

Although, I wont be watching it this year I do agree with what you say about the athletes not boycotting. All that training and dreams going to waste!!
Normally I watch gymnastics, track and field, volley ball and occasionally swimming.
Hope your mates do well Maz! What an achievement getting into the Olympic team!
