Omg!!! Richard Hammond!!!!

Quote by meat2pleaseu
I used to work on one of the rivals to Top Gear and have been to many of the tests at airstrips and test tracks like Millbrook. For a world record attempt in a jet car (which is what i think they were doing) the H&S requirements would include a Firecrew with full extraction capabilities and also an Ambulance crew. There would also have been a detailed safety meeting and review with BBC H&S staff, Production crew and also the people providing the car, who would have extensive experience of the requirments for running it.
The only difference to Santa Pod is i think they have a medical centre, which from what i've read wouldn't have made much difference as he was taken straight away by air ambulance.
So although they're different, they're not that different.

yeah but meaty........ this is the forums..... it wouldnt be the same if someone didnt step up and "poo poo" your ideas.
i was gonna start a bit of "gallows humour" myself..........
But i know Steve does Race Marshalling, so he has knowledge of race track meetings. However, there are very strict H&S issues related to car tests, but the requirements are related to the risk assessment (and the BBC are the most stringent) but the behind the scenes regs and requirements are rarely seen by the public

Well latest is there has been some improvement and is stable but still critical.
Come on Richard i want you three to do another caravan holiday wink
Just heard about this on the news ... yeah, I know, I have been under a rock. Poor guy. 300mph is a tad faster than I would be brave enough to drive. Hoping all turns out for the best for him.
I've just seen the news and they say he's got a serious brain injury, though that could mean anything.
hope he's better asap hes a great man on tv
Maybe it's too soon but... :
"Doctors at Leeds General Infirmary said they were "reasonably optimistic" the 36-year-old would make a good recovery"-BBC online news.
What an awful thing to happen to a great personality sad
Minx x x
just heard the local news,
it stated that " Richard has a significant brain injury"
lets hope
Well hes been moved of the critical but stable to stable status and is now out of intensive care.
According to bbc news
I say that as every newspaper is different.
i think its wrong to call it a NEWSpaper
sky news has said that the Hmaster has been moved out of intensive care to high dependency

You not wrong there Essex
Yes the high dependancy i couldnt remember the name but thats the same as said on radio2 this morning.
I am glad to hear that moving Hamster to HDU is progress, still everything crossed for him, just had to post this quote from Clarkson:
Clarkson described the moment he made Hammond smile. "I said, 'The reason you're here is because you're a crap driver'. He then smiled at me. It was an amazing moment.
Apart from a black eye, Richard didn't look like he had a mark on him. He hasn't a broken bone in his body"
The Top Gear team are one of a kind on British TV and I just hope that the Holy Trinity are lighting up my Sunday evenings again soon biggrin
Hiya tis I lol this reallyhas got my attention as Richard Hammond is a presenter of one of the only 2 TV programmes I watch, now I know I've not posted in here before but.......
The guy is one of the most likeable chaps on TV with his cheeky grin and wit he never fails to make me laugh so all I can say is I wish him a speedy recovery and send my wishes to his family and friends (er thats if they are swingers and ever read this :lolsmile
one more thing to add is I've been searching the net for info on his condition and beleave it or not the most up to date and acurate info, I have found on ......updated on a regular basis despite numpties that have tried to spoil it,,,,,,,wiki has given me the most up to date report on his progress every time I've looked.
All that is left to say is get well soon hamster a lot of people are rooting for you biggrin
Just to let you know in case any Hamster fans don't know, a justgiving page was created by some fans of the man to raise the money it cost to transfer him to hospital in the air ambulance. They started off wanting a few hundred pounds but so far over £150,000 has been raised in a few days. It now looks like they will get enough to buy a second helicopter for the air ambulane service which they intend naming after the Hamster!
I've just given as I think its a fantastic thing to come out of such an awful situation. Just in case anyone wants to donate, here is the link:
(Mods: I hope I haven't done anything wrong in posting this redface )
well i hope the hamster gets better soon but as with brain injuries it can take a long time
i wish him all the best one of are best presenters smile
