Am I the only that cries when watching this?
Brilliant brilliant television!

Seems so :lol2: :lol2:
I can weep quite easily at film, telly or music even...however, on this occasion I have no idea what you're referring too...if "one born every minute" is a programme title then I've just never heard of it.
I've only watched a couple of episodes a few years ago but yes, definitely a tearjerker! Though I do have a known soft spot for the birthing process and newborns.

I couldn't stand giving birth - foul, agonising, terrifying process (no doubt invented by a wrathful MALE god) and I couldn't imagine a situation where I would want to watch anyone else go through the same trauma - even my own daughter if I had one.
I love it!! The miracle of childbirth.. it's amazing!.
Did you see the one last night where she'd not been to any anti-natal classes but was so quiet all the way through in the birthing pool & it just seemed to glide into the world!!
Totally amazing xxx
XS xx
I think I'm with foxylady  It all sounds waaaay too traumatic for me!
Never had you down as such a softy Browning? :P
I avoid anything too full of blood and guts and insides, but I have been known to shed the odd tear seeing a new person come into the world amid all the trauma of it. Then again I cry watching E.T. and Pop Idol auditions and shit like that so not sure what that really tells us TBQH? confused

In no way did I mean to glorify a proceedure that is undoubtedly both gruelling and gruesome. Yes, nature is very harsh, but a lot of the pain and terror related to labour and birth is culturally generated  I am sorry to hear you had a traumatic birthing experience - in fact one of the reasons why I didn't watch any more of this show is because it was often infuriating for me to watch how women and their newborns are treated, and also be reminded of our collective lack of familiarity/understanding of something so... basic, I suppose.
Brighton being the hippy (fabric) nappyland that it is, I have heard dozens of stories of uncomplicated births, some of which were carried out without ANY medicated pain management (not even gass&air), and some of which were totally unassisted (not through design, mind you!). The truth is, there are cases were childbirth goes wrong (women used to die in childbirth) - but for the most part, for the straight-forward births, I do think that western obstetrics and the prevailing attitudes towards childbirth are making things much, much harder for us.

Naaaaaw, don't be daft. She just wanted to make sure you remembered the shit she went through creating the universe and giving you the same gift! ;)

Giving Birth?
Come on girls...if it was difficult then surely men would've taken the job over years ago!
My 3rd child, a girl, was born in an ambulance 30ft. from our front door....the ambulance man went a pale shade of grey, almost fainted, and had to sit down to recover while his lady colleague looked after him...I caught the baby as she emerged quickly and skidded across the rubber sheet into my arms. It was all good...but the poor ambulance driver didn't enjoy it.
