Online profile & pics, advice from the ladies please.

now before you all go rushing off to look at my profile (please don't, its c**p) I'm not talking about this site.
As some of you know, I have been single for quite long enough and am ready to start the whole relationship exploration thing again.
so to begin my quest for the new 'love of my life' I recently signed up to some vanilla dating sites, posted the same ole tired pics, spouted some bollox about me and all the rest of it.
crux of the matter is, yes i have actually had some meets :shock: (ok no mrs right yet) but enjoyable non the less. the point is that everyone I've met has said i should take the pics off the profile as they do me no justice. dunno

So, yesterday I bumped into an old pal of mine who happens to be a professional photographer and he's kindly offered to do a portfolio for me for free, well for a drinkies

My question is, If you were perusing photo profiles, apart from the obvious head and shoulder shot, what would you be looking at? and what would attract you?
I have one or two ideas of my own, I know a lot of ladies are pet lovers, so I guess a shot of me walking the dog might be good? I love the outdoors so maybe a pic of me walking in the woods / hills etc??
I know a lot of you will say its not the pics its what you write in the profile that matters and i agree but i have that part pretty well covered, (gauging this by the amount of meets even with c**p pics)
Oh and guys, if you have found a formula that works, feel free to contribute wink

this is of course a totally selfless thread as i'm sure there are plenty of us out there who might benefit from any replies innocent

EDIT: no I have no intentions of hanging up my swinging boots, though activities may have to be suspended during the potential new partner's indoctrination process:rascal:

I would say a nice set of pics. A couple with you all smart like in a suit, and couple casual. Women in general just want to see a nice presented guy, or as me Mum used to say " nicely turned out ". lol

Nicely turned out... yes that does it for me! And if there are pet pictures, makes you look more approachable.. I'm a sucker for a picture with a cat in it...

I'm actually turned completely off by anything that remotely smacks of 'formal' or 'staged' pics. Just be yourself, doing what you do and smile.

On a profile...
I think that I prefer things that get my thinking about the person in more depth. So photo's that they have taken of the things that they are interested in. I suppose the dog walking thing in the woods is a good one.
I have some really random photos that I just love and on other sites I use them to tell people about my personality and those sorts of things attract me to others too.
I have loads of wor lass doing random things and they are the photos that most interest people when they come to my house as they are the ones that aren't staged and show her interests and why I love her. (well, some of the reasons why. I clearly don't have porn on show rolleyes

)

I like to see a guy nicely dressed ( casual but presentable ) and smiling biggrin

Having been on one of these dating sites a bit in the past year, I've looked at lots of profiles and I wish guys wouldn't try the mean and moody look. It ain't sexy and just makes you look like a grumpy twat rolleyes

Other than that, winchy's suggestion of the dog isn't a bad one at all - girlies like an animal lover but they DO want to see the owner first and foremost!

How they ever meet anyone is a strange one. When we look at a profile if there is just a picture of some cock staring back at us, we just move straight onto the next one. Take note guys! :lol:

Hi Pete,
A while ago I tried a few vanilla sites. As on this site, I changed my pics around every now and again. It was noticeable that I got more interest when the primary photo was a face pic. Even on this site, having a look at the number of viewings my pics have got, the face pic is looked at far more (I guess technically I do have a cock-shot on there....).
Your face pics have got more viewings than your others on this site too. So, my one (hopefully) useful tip is get one or two really good face pics, and cover the rest in the profile.
