"Son, I'm thirty/I only went with your mother 'cos she's dirty"
Happy Mondays - Kinky Afro
The winner. No contest.
Come on Fun couple admit it ... you been listening to R2 and Jeremy Vine.... no shame but admit it
Gman an R2 groupie!!!!!
Prepare to lose every last shred of dignity after you admit this, James
I'm a huge Radio 2 fan myself. I think Stuart Maconie is brilliant on Drivetime, the comedy on Saturday afternoons is hilarious and the documentaries and specialist stuff is always delivered impeccably. I bought myself a DAB radio over the summer (another gadget Jags!) and it's changed the way I listen to radio forever. I can fall asleep to crystal clear Radio 4 and wake up to the Today Show (compulsory with the university course) and John Humphrys delivering another monumental bollocking. Fantastic!
Anyway, another first line:
"Punctured bicycle, on a hillside desolate/Will nature make a man of me yet?"
The Smiths - This Charming Man
I listen to Radio 2 a lot. I often start with Alex Lester when setting off into the early dawn, then Sarah Kennedy, then-highlight of the day-Wogan. The man is as batty as we are. I'm sure the programme is broadcast from somewhere in the GFZ-and nobody uses their real name, just adopted ones (ring any bells?) .Jeremy Vine is excellent, as is Steve Wright and then Stuart Maconie is spot on. I tend to dive over to Radio 4 for the comedy slot at ,and then The Archers, and get home to the relaxing strains of Classic FM.
What a boring fart I have become-and my teachers had such high hopes of me.
Oooohhhhhhhhhhh!
The radio in my car is stuck on Radio 4 - much to the sprogs and Wilma's disgust.
The only thing I turn it off for is the Archers! Can't stand any bloody soaps - telly or radio!
I like plain crisps more than the shite ones I used to love as a kid like Worcester Sauce, Prawn Cocktail, Hedgehog ....
I'm turning into my Father.......... Arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
Oh dear fred.... I suspect male menopause approaches.... at least with R2 there is an ether transmitted oestrogen stream... somehow keeps the sap flowing!!!!...
but R4 only a half hour kick per week is permitted!!!!
So Fred try the Tribuus Terrestris and the Damina leaf... and ... will post more .... can't have you droppin off at importnat moments...
Gmanxxx
what would the devine say?
Hey Gman!!!!!
I like Radio 4 (mind you I love the archers too) dum di dum di dum di dum...........
But I love Radio 2 - Wogan (sorry James - I can see that wince from here) and Dr Pauly, Deady and Boggy marsh. I loved Jonny Walker (I do hope he recovers). Jeremy Vine is OK but nowhere near as good as Old JY (What's the recipe today Jim!). His interviewing techniques leave a lot to be desired.
hmmmmmmm - have I lost the plot on this one, what was the thread about?.
When I was growing up it was 199-Caroline!!!!!!
And Luxembourg - but only after 7 and it used to fade in and out!
oh happy memories!

Hopefully I'm not being too morbid today (reaches for another ciggie)
Chris Rea is one of my favourites
Opening verse from Tell me there's a heaven
The little girl she said to me
What are those things that I can see
Each night when I come home from school
When mama calls me in for tea
On every night a baby dies
And every night a mama cries
What makes those men do what they do
To make that person black and blue
It is, for me, Rea's best song... full of emotion. Reduces me to tears

Last one - I promise
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed
