Oral - Unprotected or not?

Would you have unprotected oral sex with a swinging partner

Not too long ago, there was a poll on whether members would have unprotected sex with a new swinging partner or not.
Not surprisingly, most people opted for protected sex except with their partner or (in some cases) people they knew extremely well.
I thought it was worth a similar poll on the subject of oral sex.
Personally, I would save unprotected penetrative sex for Sappho only, but I would be perfectly happy to have unprotected oral sex, though I would, of course, 'cover up' if that was the lady's preference.
I realise that the health risks from oral sex are not zero but I believe that they are very low (unless someone can tell me different).
So, what's your view?
That's a bit weird. I gave four options, but it's only showing two.
The options I had intended to give were:
1. Yes, absolutely
2. Depends on the mood I'm in
3. Perhaps, but only if I knew them well
4. No, never. I save that for my partner.
Would be interested to hear your views. If a mod can sort out the missing options, I would be grateful.
Will
Will - I have tried a number of times to add them for you - unsuccessfully I'm afraid. Just not having it tonight! I even tried to delete what you had and start again confused :?
Maybe someone else can take a peek in the morning an give it ago again for you.

It confuses me when I see a blue film where a guy uses a condom yet, he then cums in her mouth where she then swallows.
That is strange as I was under the impression that swallowing bodily fluids would be exactly the same as having unprotected sex where the guys cums up the woman?
A man " leaks " cum so if a woman was giving him head, surely the risks would be exactly the same, yet from my experience women in general will happily do this, yet ask the guy to wear a condom.
Maybe someone can enlighten me as to the difference, as I cannot see one.

As ever, a little research wins out.

And for the hard of thinking who don't follow links or know how to use google, the conclusion is, no, the risk is not the same, and is less for oral sex as compared to vaginal or anal sex.

someone suggested once i start a thread called Aids/stds the facts and invited people to post what they knew.i think it would be interesting to see how many myths are still out of course useful for the well informed to share their knowledge.
Reguarding the question, the mouth is a hostile enviroment for any virus.

Do it
It will be interesting to see what comes up. I like to think I'm pretty clued up on it but there's always something pops up that makes you think 'really?... wow!'
And yes, apparently the saliva can kill the HIV virus, although I'm not sure if that's 100% true.
I've never fucked without condoms.. men or women but I don't use condoms to suck cock.
Someone suggested it once to me - i.e. he wore a condom while I sucked him and vice-versa. Out of curiousity, I asked him if he did the same with females and he said 'Oh no, that's much safer!' I don't know what made me get dressed more quickly, his arrogance or his ignorance but I left anyway.
A Health Worker at the GUM clinic suggested that if I was worried about it (as I was asking lots of questions being the avid cock sucker that I am) that I should try it with flavoured condoms but also pointed at a chart on the wall to assure me that the risk was very, very low. I told her that if I wanted cock in my mouth, I wanted to taste cock and not rubber... flavoured or otherwise - she giggled which I'm sure was a clinical sign that she agreed but just couldn't say in a professional environment ;)

" It is less common for HIV to be transmitted through oral sex ". BUT and I use that word BUT....the risk is still there.
The risk of catching a sexually transmitted disease through unprotected sex is relatively low, but people still do not take the risk.
My point was there is a risk with oral sex, so why take it, but it seems plenty of people do.
when this debate comes around i wonder why people are in this dilemna. why are people caught up in the anxiety of choice, when they don't need to put themselves in that place.

Risk is never binary. It's spectral, and on the spectrum of HIV transmission oral sex is lower risk than anal or vaginal sex.
The problem for researchers is that while they can prove that the risk markers for transmission are much more common in anal and vaginal sex than oral, there is no way of proving via experiment that oral sex is much less risky because there's no way of doing a properly controlled experiment. So they hedge, but the message is clear - unprotected oral sex is much less risky.
So have they been able to find and use a control group who have just had unprotected oral sex then and not unprotected, penetrative anal or vaginal sex as well?
I think I already knew that..........doh
I'm glad to know that I wasn't totally misinformed in thinking that the risks from oral sex were significantly lower though, as I said, NOT zero.
It would be interesting to hear more views and see more votes. Oh, and if someone could sort out the other options then I would be really grateful as I suspect that for many people this may not be a 'yes' or 'no' issue but is rather more spectral.

Exactly.
We go around the houses to get back to the beginning, where the issue I raised about the risks from oral sex are proved.
Yes lower than the other forms, but there all the same which was my point.

Sorry Will, I have tried about three times to add the other options, but it just does not like them
As for oral without protection, yes there are risks, same as there are risks in having oral with protection (condoms do not guarantee you will not catch anything, they just reduce the chance) it all comes down to personal preference. I do have oral without protection, and although I have tried with (flavoured condoms etc) it just makes me gag. I have weighed up the risks and decided that for me, this is a risk I am willing to take. However, and this may be hypocritical, I would not have penetrative sex without a condom, and would not play with anyone who I knew played bareback. I have seen so many threads on here asking for bareback fun, and it honestly worries me just how inconsiderate and irresponsible people can be, but perhaps others would say the same about me for having unprotected oral. In the end, it all boils down to personal choice. We are adults and we know the risks (well, I hope we know them).

What the lovely Mrs NWC said
Flavoured condoms should be used to water plants! ;)
