Ok picture the scene,
I decide to take time out from my oh so hectic social life (yeah right rolleyes )
so I get myself a Chinese takeaway and a DVD and decide that sod the widescreen tv tonight, I’m going to sit at my computer, eat my food, watch my dvd, and just chill out.
And if anyone fancies a chat, well then I’ll be there to reply.
Well I get all nicely settled in, put on the DVD, and hey presto, movie fires up (don’t ask which one, its embarrassing ) and no audio, log into the updates site, update the audio codex, still no audio. evil
Have now been fecking about with this thing for nearly an hour and still no joy. :taz:
Pound to a pinch of rock salt I have missed the obvious here, but I just cant find it? (yes the audio is on, and yes the volume is up)
Any techno wizards out there tell me wtf I’m doing wrong?
dunno fick me, need a pointy hat and a corner to stand in

Phredd
Are the speakers plugged in?? dunno
Oh and what are you watching?? :giggle:
WMP huh! try using powerDVD biggrin
Oh and what are you watching? lol
If its a Buster Keaton film you might have an answer to your sound problem
look you lot evil
It's a perfectly respectably family film ok? nuff said
now if you have nothing constructive to say, bugger orf :flippa: (bloody hark at me :lol2: )
seriously, have been using power dvd, but it freezes half way through the film, WMP plays the film right through, but no sound :taz:
oh where are the nurds when you need em (dah di dah) :rascal:
on media player pete, there is a seperate volume control.
just by any chance is that turned down, just a thought
also u can mute media player, check that as well
anyway da di da
qrt 4 now
sparky
Pete, check your volume controls down in the taskbar as well as the volume on media player. Is it just the movie that won't play sound? Are your cds playing ok on it? If they are then it might be the movie that's buggered and not your media player.
Whatever you do, don't be tempted to download media player 11 as it's a pile of shit. I did and went straight back to 10 which is much better ( plus I know my way around this one )
Dunno if its just coincidence Pete but mine's fooked too dunno
speakers just won't work :dunno: Done the whole 'is it on mute/ are they plugged in / is the volume turned down on control panel' etc etc and I still dont know what's up... is it a speaker issue, or a media player one? I have no sound with any program.....come to think of it, I dont even have sound on webpages etc rolleyes... so it cant be just media player...or is it just me lol
I'm a technie numpty, to understand any of this stuff you need to speak to me like a 5 year old with step by step instructions..... but I've had no sound for over a fortnight now and its really pissing me off now evil - borrowed new speakers, but assume I need drivers (:dunnosmile installation disk (:dunno:) or something cos they dont work either banghead
if you find any light on this luv, drop me a pm

think your sound card may have poped hun, dont worry they are as cheap as chipps these days.
wish i was closer, could solve your problem in 5 minutes, unfortunate my sound card and speakers work just fine, so if its not a wmp problem, then it must b the dvd, oh well, wasnt really that interesting anyway

You haven't mentioned if this is an original DVD or a copy? and do you get sound ok with other DVD's using media player or is it just this one? you could also ripp the dvd to your hardrive using DVD Decrypter or simular and play it from there, i know it's a bit late now lol but you might get it sorted for your next attempt biggrin
Volume control on media player
mute on/off F8
volume DOWN F9
volume UP F10
When in full mode click play from the top menu / Audio and Language Tracks and if theres more than one select each one till you get sound. the DVD might only have a DTS soundtrack which might be the problem.
If its XP your using you could always every codec available and even has its own media player to if you choose to use it.
.
Or just download this...

It'll play anything, isn't bothered about region coding and has loads of cool features (if you like messing about with these things !), like having the film you're playing as your wallpaper !!
