I know noone will be able to give me accurate medical diagnosis (and I have an appointment booked with my GP anyway) but I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced low blood sugar?
I had a very strange 'turn' in work yesterday and it has been suggested to me that it may have been caused by a dip in blood sugar.
I was dizzy, light-headed, clammy, my heart was racing, my face was kinda tingly and I felt like I was going to faint. It lasted for about an hour - although the majority of symptoms went after I drank a cup of tea with lots of sugar in it.
I have experienced similar in the past but not to the extreme that this was.
Any thoughts?
type 2 diabetes.

Hmmmm, sounds like it could be an orgasm to be but I'm not very experienced in this area.. was there any kind of discharge from your ears, or anywhere else? confused
Sorry, I'll spank myself smackbottom
Were you under any pressure at the time? Also sounds similar to a panic attack.
I wish it had been an orgasm! rotflmao
Tweeky, no more pressure than usual. Nothing to make me feel panicky anyway. And I didn't actually feel panicked - I was very calm throughout and initially put it down to the onset of a nasty virus flu-y thing which is going round work. Thing is, I was fine later on and am okay now, so I don't think it is the viral thing.
Odd.

Don't humour him woman, he's nothing but a tosser!
Mr Fun feels like that if he goes for too long without eating ... a choccy bar usually sorts it out. (Wish I had that excuse for eating chocolate) lol

Nah, but I have asked him for pictorial evidence lol
Sounds like the symptoms of Hypoglycaemia which is low blood sugar. Most common when you haven't eating anything for a while and very common for those who don't eat breakfast of some sort! How late in the day did it happen and when did you last eat something before it happened?

It happened at approx 2:35 ish. I had eaten lunch at 1:30pm (cheese sandwich, muller light yoghurt and a handful of grapes plus a bottle of water) I'd had a mid morning snack (a little cupcake thingy!) at 10:40am and breakfast (grapefruit and a cuppa) at about 6:40am.
Basically I had eaten pretty much the same as normal. dunno

Doesn't sound like low blood sugar then, get it checked out xx

I wouldn't discount a low blood sugar moment. I have gone hypo 20 minutes after eating a big meal, although I am a type 1 diabetic but hadn't overdosed on my insulin. Regradless, I would still go and get it checked out at your GP.

I would be pretty confident to rule out a hypo with that food count in a non diagnosed diabetic but agree needs to get checked out Jewl

Shaz used to feel like this every morning when she had just woke up, when she had something sweet like a cuppa or some breakfast it passed. used to get it the odd time in the day also.
She did get her results back from her blood test a couple of days about this but the doctor just said she was very low in vitamin D and calcium so put her on calceos and she's felt loads better since :-)
Not saying you have the same but sounds similar.
Tony ;-)

Aahhh, interesting. I have low Vitamin B12 and now have an injection to rectify that.
Vitamins are strange things... All good to know.
I'm type 2 diabetic and if I'm not disciplined about my eating frequency and diet I get low sugar moments . They hit me from nowhere ...one minute fine, the next I feel like somethings sucked the life out of me , I feel nauseous and very weak and lack confidence in my balance sometimes with sweating and just want to lie down . within 20 minutes of eating something I am fine. These moments aren't just brought on by lack of food though they can be brought on by Physical exertion too.
Have you had your blood pressure checked - it could be low. Hope it is something easily prevented in the future, but I know low blood pressure can be tricky. Good luck kiss

GP pronto then.
it does sound like a hypo, but you'd expect someone having a hypo to have had one of three possible aggravating factors - excessive exercise or tiredness, suficient alcohol in the previous 24 hours to cause a hangover, or a dietary change. Diarrohea can be a complicating factor as well.
The problem is repeating the experience - as I remember the tests can be difficult because the phenomenon doesn't repeat automatically. A food, exercise and sleep journal may be useful, and tracing your temperature to rule out viruses if it re-occurs would make sense.
