Chatting with some forum folk this weekend, we were debating the merits of this place. It got me thinking about online forums generally...
Are you a member of any other forums?
If so, what are the specialisms of the forum? Is it to do with a hobby? How long do you spend online in that forum? Does it have a community feel?
If not, why not?
I'm not an active member of any other forum. There are music fan sites I dip in and out of and read the forums on, but I don't post. I contribute sporadically to a job-related forum, but it is a huge site and doesn't have a community feel as such.
Errrrrrrrrr my other addiction - besides SH - is the Archers & The Archers Forum, or mustardland, as we like to call it!!! I don't have the same name on there though - so you won't find me!!!! lol
I belong to a couple of other forums.
one is a work related one and it does have a community feel.
the other is a ... mmm sort of interest although it has a cross over into my work too. It also has a community feel.
Maybe I've been unfortunate with my choice of other forums in that they are huge global affairs. Feels like I would have to dedicate millions of hours to becoming an accepted regular poster, and not sure I want to do that.
Whenever I hear about or stumble across other forums, I always marvel at how the 'net has made it possible for communities of like-minded folk to find each other.
I'm a member of a couple of others. One is a career related one and the other is a life experience based one.
I haven't been a member of the career one long enough to judge yet but the other one is like comfy slippers that I wear when I feel like.
xxxx
I am really a member of two others..... one i am a lurker unless i really am angry!!!
the other i am addicted to... but it is linked to my old american university..... it is the biggest of its type and they talk about anything!!! that one is safe for work so i can use it when i am going thru the 12-8 grind.....
Member of a few non-swinging forums ... TownHouse Forum but very little activity on it (as in few people use it it seems) ... London Fetish Scene - pretty active, topical and relatively relaxed/irreverant ... Informed Consent - good uk-wide forum though people tend to take it all a bit too seriously sometimes ...
im a member of a few other forums, one being that well known auction site, which has quite a good community feel, unless theres a vicious troll about, in which case it descends into something resembling armageddon. Can be quite a vile place on occasions.
The other is a hobby related one which is far more relaxed and generally a nice place to be, for the most part quite chilled, but I am not a regular psoter on there, unless its something I am really sure about that I know i can pass on good info on.
Nola made a good point, when she said about like minded people finding each other, and thats what draws me back here.....not so much the swinging as a physical act per se, but the fact that its a place where lots of views can be aired about a vast array of subjects, with , so far as im aware, nothing being (apart from those that breach aup)
I'm on the one for my village. It obviously uses the same program/code/whatever-you-call-it that we have here.
It is still young and only about 250 members but it's moving along. I like to think I've had an effect - on my first night on-board I posted on about half of the threads. LOL
What surprised me was the absence of humour - on here we will jump on inuendo (especially unintentioned) and run with it. I've had to stop myself a couple of times before I outed myself on it.
I use one of the same pics on there as on here (no NOT the shower pic pmsl) so if you see me on there - say Hi. :d
Hi!
Not big on forums but have been abused like mad on the forums on another swinging site where if you aren't in the clique then you shouldn't be there! So refreshing on this site where common sense seems to prevail.
Will stick to the forums here I think!

By the way. It's FORA.
One Forum, 2 Fora, 3 - - is far too many to keep up with.
