9 is to young I dont have kids but my sister 3 all have mobiles but she did not let them have them untill they were 12

dilemma is that Morb's 10 yr old has one due to her illness and her now being spoiled rotten confused

my daughter is 9 on saturday and we're thinking of giving her my old one on PAYG, but I've always resisted because she's still my baby. I'm just do I don't I as it's not costing me anything but she is young.
We are generally strict parents btw and monitor what they do etc. time spent on tv/computer, so the phone will only be available at weekends.

give her the phone, but tell her she has to buy her own credit.

just wish i could find someone that would have my babies

My 9 y/o has a mobile but buys her own credit out of pocket money. She does play out (although not so much at this time of year) with some friends who live about a 10 minute walk from our house so I feel better knowing she has the phone for me to contact her rather than anything else.
Btw, do mobiles not come under another banned word that could be ringtones :twisted: bolt
