they will learn before becoming adults

Yes but while they are children they still believe rolleyes
and soon they wil lose that delusion

just becauuse someone believes something doesn`t make it true or worthy of my respect, and since you are going for the ad-hominem approach, which doesn`t really further your point, i should point out that there are no records of ancient pagan or druid ceremonies in existence,so they have all been made up by someone.

I see your understanding of syllogistic logic is on a par with your understanding of accepted good manners. The usual meaning of ad hominem is when someone putting forward an argument is attacked rather than the substance of the argument. The argument was that to be disrespectful of another's beliefs was ignorant and ill-mannered. That applies to anyone who either thoughtlessly or by intention offends, or risks offending, those whose religious or spiritual beliefs differ from their own, not to you specifically. However if the cap fits, wear it.

>snip< so they have all been made up by someone.

That 'argument' actually holds true for any religion/faith/belief. Someone had the thought first. Someone documented it first. Someone believed it first.
What actually is a problem here is that you, personally, are so disparaging about someone else’s belief system. It has no bearing on you personally (unless I am mistaken). They were not asking you (or anyone else) to validate their belief. I suspect they care less about your opinion. I suspect that it matters nothing to their celebration.
Would it not have been more appropriate to pass on by?

you seriously think pagan isn`t mumbo jumbo?

does'nt matter what anyone thinks except the couple in question it is their wedding day and they are choosing to do it how they like wether you or i or anyone beleive does not even come into it

In the words of my 16 year old students - "How rude are YOU!"
Another saying of theirs (they are very smart!) "If you've got nothing nice to say, say nothing!"

ps. I hope it's not me who is putting-up everyone's 'fuck-wit-o-meters'?!!
redface

Nope. Not mine, anyway. biggrin
As I understand it, Paganism is not so much a belief as a way of life. I've known a lot of Pagans in my life.... I lived with a one for a while.... and what shines out above all is their devotion to, and respect of, the law of nature.
No mumbo jumbo there!
i can prob get u somebody to help pm me

I'm glad to hear that...
I was about to come into the thread just to mention that this is a thread surrounding a question about a couples' celebration...however they choose to do it...
all the very best to you!
but: Paganism is very much alive and practiced throughout the country.

i`ll be glad to make up some mumbo-jumbo for you dead cheap

I'm sure FB will thank you for making her update her counter.
not ad-hominem ?
trying to stifle my free speech then
if anyone can get upset about even such a mild critisism of their belief as has happened here, does that not tell you something? the o.p. has been very not here, just the pc brigade spouting off

So now everyone who thinks you should your comments were unnecessary in this thread is PC? Total rubbish.
No-one has attempted to stifle your free speech. Many people, however, have said that under the circumstances it would have been better to have stayed out of the thread. To insult someones beliefs when they've started what should have been a happy thread is really inconsiderate and rude.
And Pagans died out did they? Bugger, I need to get out and tell the Pagans!
rolleyes

not ad-hominem ?
Correct. Simply an opinion.
I do not practise any religion nor do I have any religious beliefs however I do have the common courtesy of attending and behaving appropriately at any religious functions/events I have been invited to. I may not believe in what goes on but I respect the fact that others do... What has gone on in this thread is disrespectful. The right and proper action in this case would have been to do what everyone else has pointed out and to have not posted in the thread and to have kept your opinion to yourself, unless you have details of someone who could have helped in their search!
The only thing i have to add is good luck!

So each and everyone of us who are disgusted with your comments on this thread are the 'Pc Brigade' and we are just 'spouting off'?
Quite frankly, Im amazed you havent been given a holiday from the site.
We may live in a country that allows freedom of speech but your comments are downright rude and offensive and I for one, am disgusted at how you are allowed to carry on.
I love weddings me!
Doesn't matter if they are religious or civil ceremonies. I think they're brill.
I truly hope that the original posters have a great wedding and that the ceremonies they choose are special and meaningful for them and symbolise a long and happy life together for both of them.
Rude, disrespectful, inflammatory. I could go on about annejohn's comments but hey, what else is there to say?
personally, I'd like to see a 'handfasting'
can I come...?

Ive been to one, it was truly beautiful
Sorry I've not been back here for a while - family stuff!
Thanks for all your comments (well, almost all of your comments!)
..and thanks to those of you who defended our beliefs whilst we've been away. There are some lovely people on this site.
The good news is we've managed to find someone! Yay!!! In fact, we've found a couple - a priest and priestess to perform the ceremony - which is doubly good news!
Three weeks to go!
Once again, thanks for your kind words. We'll let you know how it went if you like.
