Hello every one, I was wondering if anyone else has come across parking meters which require you to enter your vehicle registration number! I was with a friend today I had to go back to the car to make a note of the registration number which was a bit of a chore! I suppose the logic behind it is to stop people passing there tickets to others
Hi Jazzy, yes I have seen them in Wales, and I can never remember my reg lol
Yes - I have seen them in Wales too. Wales is so clever and the Welsh can remember their registration numbers!
We've had them for years- it's put paid to the practice of nicely handing over a half used ticket. rolleyes
Next they'll be wanting to see our license, insurance and birth certs, plus our inside leg measurements.
Yes I have seen them and used them.
Never seen parking meters like it. Seen loads of car park ticket machines though. Especially annoying if you park right over the other side of the car park and then cant remember yer Reg

Why is transferring tickets not allowed? If the parking time is paid for, why does it matter which car is there? Seems like another rip-off opportunity to me.
Agreed....another example of legalised theft as I call it.

I expect its because parking systems are not just about charging for parking, but also about discouraging the flow of extra traffic to a particular area, so the parking has been paid for, but the driving through the roads around it has not.
There was me thinking road tax covered roads!
It's about making more money, pure and simple, regardless of what spin people wish to put on it.

Not really - would you go really to park somewhere, expecting to get a half-used ticket from someone? You'd have to pay if nobody gave you their ticket so why is it theft if that's not possible?

The whole thing about charging for parking is just another way of getting money out of us.
When parking first become a big issue in the 90's it was beacause it caused congestion. Nowadays it's alright to cause that congestion as long as you pay!
And lets not bring into this scenario the clampers/traffic wardens!
