Just thought I'd let u know that I went on the depo injection today. Had a bit of arse ache for a few hours afterwards but all is well up to know....I'm praying very hard that I'm in the 1/3 of women who's periods stops! :rascal:

Please let me know how it goes. I'm at my wits end with mine banghead There is no way in HELL I'm going for the ablation and I'm giving serious thought to asking my doc to refer me for the big op redface
Oh I sure will. Aww bless, how come ur at ur wits end with yours? (Would read back but cant be arsed lol ) What's 'ablation' and what's the big op? Sorry, I'm a bit thick with meanings of words lol

Without putting anyone off their tea  ablation is where they burn or melt off the lining of the womb using either laser or a balloon which is then heated to 82 degrees  The 'big one' is a hysterectomy, an option which is becoming more appealing by the day

Ah right, it does sound a bit scary that ablation but it probably isn't quite as bad as it sounds. I can't really comment as I dont really know the pro's and con's of each really but after a bit of good old critical thinking, I'm sure you'll decide which is best for you. Good luck hun and keep me posted!!!

I had a thermal balloon ablation in December 2005. Without any pain relief or anaesthetic ! It's made mine lighter but they still last as long - over a week sometimes. The doctors wouldn't even think about a hysterectomy for me until I'd at least had an ablation and seen what difference it made.

Thank god for the depo injection - none of that monthly fuss. biggrin[/quote
she has thought obout going on the depo but she's worried about the side affects have you suffered any pl.....

I had them for years (about 8) before I got any side effects. After 8 years I found I was on a constant period (having had nothing for the whole 8 years) Nothing I could do but switch to the pill. The doc said i'd become 'intolerant' to it. I'm really naughty now though and never take a break. Who would given the choice?
I would go back on depo tomorrow if it would still work for me
*Her*
Many years ago I heard about the fantastic depo injection & the "never" having periods :thrilled:
So I decided to give it a try rolleyes
I was on it for about 12 months & was on a constant period! I was even more of a cowbag than ever  and put on about 3 stone
I then decided if it was going to settle down it would have done by now so stopped it & then when I still had problems the Dr said that it could stay in my system for another 12 months
On reading this thread, I'm going to look into that marina coil thing :smile2:
The Mirena coil didn't work for me - I know a few women who have not liked it. However, there are a few on here who have it and think it's great!
Depo worked for me in the fact that I didn't have any periods while I was still having the jabs... but I came off it and got pregnant within 6 weeks of my injection due date even though it's supposed to take an eternity for your body to return to normal
Since had the snip because being mrs fertile scares the heebie jeebies out of me and I'd have it all whipped out if they'd let me.
Have to say lately my periods are a bit all over the shop... am considering going to the docs but don't know if they'd put me on the pill to even things out or not
Just as a completely pointless aside, I'm not that regular so it comes in handy that I always dream that I've started my period the night before I do. It happens every month. I have no idea how that works... weird!
I have natural cycles but they're getting shorter, sometimes every 23 days and lasting 5/6 days. Makes arranging play days a little tricky sometimes with only 14 days per month to work with mad
I was on the pill for years but now much prefer to have a natural cycle and work with my body as I am lucky enough to have normal and not particularly painful or heavy periods, although I often get bad ovulation pains. I think our bodies are amazing and am fascinated about how they work. My heart goes out to girls who suffer with endo and other hormonal problems. :therethere:

I feel for Mrs Cream. :therethere:
I have suffered really badly for the past 9 years ( roll on the goddam menopause rolleyes ) I even have to take time off work when it's really bad. I have Ibuprofen 600mg and Tranexemic Acid on prescription which helps a little but I'm still curled up in bed with a hot water bottle at times. Been tested for just about everything gynaecological you can think of with no success, tried the Mirena coil ( which has great reports but it didn't suit me ) tried herbal remedies such as Sage and St John's Wort but no luck. The only option left for me would be the big op and I'm seriously considering it. sad

Sassy I was the same, and I'm sure my problems got worse after I was sterilised. I had both tranexamic acid and mefanamic acid, ibuprofen and paracetomol, and was still in pain  and the amount of time I had off work with the pain and discomfort just weren't funny at all.
I eventually decided to ask for a hysterectomy, and lucky for me, my gynaecologist agreed. It was probably because I've had problems with heavy/painful periods right from being a teenager, and they definitely did get worse, but the doctors had a lot of complaints from me on file about it.
I had it done in March 2004, was in pain for maybe 5 or 6 weeks after, fully recovered by about 11 or 12 weeks after, and haven't had a problem at all since biggrin It even helped with my PMT  I kept my ovaries, so I haven't gone through the change yet, but I don't have the monthly misery of mood swings, pain and downright inconvenience of everything that goes with heavy periods redface wink
my xwife was a bitch week before period, she knew she was doing it but could not stop her she, she lost few friends over it, then when period came she was in bad pain, i used to say its god paying you back for being a bitch,
my new G/F is good as gold and only has period for 3-4 days,, happy days
well mrs f totally goes soppy and sex mad when its that time  does suffer from pain and takes diclofenac due to endometriosis and they only thing to help.

I know everyone is different, but I tried the Mirena and was in agony until they finally agreed to take it out. As I havent had children, I had to have a general anastetic to have it fitted and was in pain from when I came round. I bled all the time it was in, had horrific pain (stomache and back ache) and was constantly wanting to go to the loo. It was the worst thing I have ever tried. When I had it removed, they had to do a scan to locate it, as my uterous had been contracting contstantly (they said it was trying to expell it) and the mirena had moved and the strings could not be found. It was painful having it removed, but not as much as leaving it in place! Also be aware they dont recomend this for anyone who has more than one sexual partner (safe sex or not).
I am also having problems with my periods and have been as long as I can remember. They are very irregular and heavy and can be anything from 4-5 days apart, to a max of 3 weeks, normally lasting around 6 days. I have very bad cramping and have tried just about everything including the Depo, Mini Pill, Implanon, D&C Op, Embolation (or TCRE) and last try was the Mirena. My doctor did refer me for an Hystorectomy but the hospital wont do it till they have tried everything else. I have had two polyps removed and during an internal scan I had 2 weeks ago, I was told I have one large fibroid which is growing from the back of my uterous and is pressing on my sciatic nerve (I have been having physio for the last 2 years for a slipped disc and now they think it is a large bloody fibroid which is causing it)
I go back on Monday to the hospital and I am 'praying' they finally agree to do it!

Same here. sad (I did have a boyfriend once!)
Of course everybody is different but I didn't have a great experience with the coil.
Although my periods did became more regular I found them to be heavier. Also my boyfriend used to squeal sometimes as the nylon thread pricked him on the end of his errrrr... prick!
After a few months I found that I'd be in quite a bit of pain after orgasm and went to my GP to ask to be referred to a gynaecologist to have my coil removed. She just told me she could do it there and then.
It appeared that one side of the coil had become imbedded.
I did have it removed but I won't go into the details so early in the morning.
:scared:

You should try Northisterone, it's great for delaying when you are due to play! wink (it's a commonly used pill for people going on holidays, I use it every year).

Thanks Jaymar, how does that work then? If we bleed 14 days (averagely) after ovulation then you must have to take it before ovulation to delay ovulation as the bleed cannot be delayed once ovulation has occured. Well that is my understanding anyway.
If I'm gonna shove any pills inside me I like to know how they work!

You start taking it approximately 3 days before your next one is due, it doesn't work to delay ovulation, it works to delay the onset of your period. You take the pills for as long as you need to keep the thing away, when you are ready to start (ie., when home for hols) just stop and you'll start about 5 days later.
Thx Jaymar
Just looked it up, it mimics progesterone to delay bleeding and is available from the GP. May be handy to know in situations that cannot be timed... wink

Just out of interest, why is that dunno
..
The risk of getting infections is increased with the use of any coil, but more so within the first 6 weeks of insertion.
Heres a quick snippet that i think is usefull...
The Mirena coil system is designed to minimise the risk of infection, but there is still a slight risk of developing a pelvic infection while using the coil, particularly in the first 3 weeks after insertion. Such infections are usually related to sexually transmitted diseases, and you are more likely to develop an infection if you or your partner has several sexual partners. Overall, about 1.5% of women will develop an infection with 5 years use of the coil. You can reduce your risk of developing an infection by using a condom when having sex with anybody other than your long-term sexual partner.
If you develop a pelvic infection, it must be treated promptly. Contact your doctor immediately if you begin experiencing persistent lower abdominal pain, fever, pain with intercourse or abnormal bleeding as these symptoms may indicate a pelvic infection.
If you develop a pelvic infection, the coil should be removed.
So as always condoms are a essential use with multiple partners
Nicky
Well you learn something new every day, thanks Nicky
it's been nearly a month since she had the depo injection and it's been a month of bleeding the last period as blended in to the next period :censored: ,tho she did say there was no period pain :bounce: ,if the bleeding continues after this period then she said she wont be going for the next injection...she's now thinking of getting the implant anyone had it,is it any good...i no that differant things work for differant people as this thread as proven, but any advice would be gratefully accepted...

Hi creampie,
I think u might find that the more injections u have, the better it is... it takes time for your body to get used to having progesterone being dripped into it all the time. Ive just had my 5th injection and im finding im now totally period, pmt and of course pain free. Stick with it if u can cos its great after a while. Talking of the implant, my daughter has one and she finds that she still bleeds now and then. Not painfully or heavily but enough to be annoying.
Hope this helps and see how things progress ....
Suze xx
