Sorry if this has been mentioed before!
I'm sure the site used to delete ads after 3 months if they had not been updated, now they seem to hang around forever sometimes 18 months or more any chance of someone looking in to this??
What does anyone else think??
My 2p's worth
NCB
"Anyone coming to Cornwall on Hols drop me a line lol "
It would no doubt be beneficial to delete older ads so as to decrease server usage..
I guess its just one of the many things on the "To do" list.. biggrin
But now it's a pay site, would it be acceptable to delete a members add if they're still paying their subscription?

If a person has the 'notification' ticked they might leave an ad in place and not log into the site until they get told a reply has arrived dunno
Perhaps though it would keep ads consistent with profiles as some ads seem to ask for different things specced in the profile?
Perhaps it could be a purification process of errors. For example, like men putting their ads under women because that is what they are looking for and not what they are?
Sorry I haven't got to 2p to offer will 1p be enough?
Shay
It would be SO easy to set up a cron script once a month that would email those people who's adverts havent been updated.
In addition this would also allow for peoples email addresses to be re-verified..... obviously if the email address associated with the account is invalid then that person would not be able to recieve notification.
Also I would stop people setting up a random email account to create a SH account then delete it once its set up
Does MAILER-DAEMON monitor bounce backs?
Tell you what HornyBunny.... Why dont you PM one of the admin team and tell them your idea's...... I am sure they wont be aware of any of them at all rolleyes
I'm sure he was only trying to help Shireen. Surely it's a good thing if people have ideas, that they voice them, instead of just sitting on them and staying quiet. Ok so if admin are already aware of the techy stuff that Bunny's suggested then there's no harm done.
I agree however that sending a PM might be a better idea, but surely it could've been said without the sarcasm
Perhaps Alleyson.... dunno
I've sent in a couple of suggestions from time to time.... but surely things are implimented that more than one person wants.. so if we can show that we want X or Y .. then the admin staff will go "ooooo" (or some other excitable noise)
Swinging Heaven won't send random spam emails to peoples account because when you sign up, I believe that is part of the agreement confused

No Spam emails?...oooooooo the "Inbox notification" message gets a Spam "rating" of 1.2 by spamassassin (GPL/Apache)
(anything more than 6 and its deleted automatically.
isnt the notification email only sent by request? therfore is it spam if you have requested it?
xx lou xx
Have a look in My Settings:-
Receive email notification when you get new site e-mail? Send me notifications.
Forward the message to my email.
Send me nothing!
I have emails forwarded! So basically when someone types me a mesage i get a copy in my email inbox in addition to my SH inbox. Useful! As an email is sent to my email box it is scanned by my spam filter.... hence the 1.2
Interestingly the email is generated from within apache (possible security risk)

But you changed your settings to have those emails :?
You were originally talking about emailing old accounts about ads and such like, which is what I attempted to reply to.
HornyBunny I believe you attempted to change my reply to suit yourself dunno
Errr didnt touch your reply bit.... i editted the bit at the end.. as i just put "the message is rated as 1.2" which didnt make much sense and put in the bit about spamassassin.
PS I was making a comment about the term "spam" ..... just that the notification flags up a couple of "oh" points in SA.. not about the mailing out thing
In addition the mailing out could be utilised by SH
