Morning, I run a forum that uses phpBB software but I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere!
People can just join my site by entering and confirming their email address, however due to recent spammers who have invaded my site I wan't to set it so that people have to be approved by me or a Mod before they can post.
I just can't work out how or where to change the settings!
Does anyone know?
the easiest way is by setting the site up as a public/private forum (i'm assuming its a forum).
that way users sign up to the site, yet need to be confirmed before posting.
There are many tools out tehre for confirmation of email etc.
But in the end you really can't stop the determined spammer.
Only way to do this is to kick them and ban the email address or IPBan.
I myself am still learning phpBB, so i'm sure otehrs may have a better grasp and better advice.
good luck to you
ok go to

click on configuration under the general admin
in enable account acrivation check the Admin radio button

It is software that uses PHP programming language and BB stands for buliten board.
Basically it makes designing and running a forum a whole lot easier!
I hope that helps.
PHP (PHP:Hypertext Preprocessor)
Programming language originally used for dynamic webpages
SH uses PHP you will see the .php afeter the page name in the address bar
I want to set up the sign up process so that you have to verify your email address, or even better have me activate a new account but I keep getting lost on the configuration panel.
Any ideas from anyone who know's phpBB?
