Hi all,
im just curious about other peoples opinions and interpretations of the rules regarding taking photos of others at social events.
My interpretation is that you must ask EVERYONE that is or will be included in the photograph for their permission, and if certain members do not give permission, then the photograph must be deleted.
A certain individual at a certain social would not agree to this.
Please give me your opinions.
Thanks

we attended the same social and we are not happy at having pictures taken at any social or munch
it is commom courtesy and respect to ask everyones permission first
so if you have any pics of us (and you know who you are ) please delete them
taking pics at any social event is not acceptable behaviour
NO EXCUSES NO EXCEPTIONS

perhaps for people opinions then look at the thread that was started after the incident you infere at

It would be nice to have a blanket rule of no pictures at Swing events. Surely this would then at least take of any any concerns.

If someone took a picture with you in the frame and refused to delete it, report that person to admin. Did you report it to the organiser at the time? Was anything specifically said in your PM with details, about picture taking?

 If it's an issue I was concerned enough to post about, I'd make the time and have the inclination to find that thread. confused

Why? Some people like having their picture taken , or taking pictures of friends. As long as everyone consents to it, why should it be a problem?
However, often an organiser will specify 'no cameras', but even then pictures could be taken privately afterward.

I'm inclined to agree...
There will always be someone, somewhere who chooses to secretly take pictures no matter what guidlines are put in place so if there was a blanket ban then there is no excuse really....
Cant say they thought this particular meet was a camera's allowed function..

Personally I would love all the socials to be camera free.
I hate having my picture taken and no way would I agree to having it taken by someone that I didn't know very well.
I'm shocked that after the recent thread on picture taking that this has come up again so quickly.
People should know better and show other members the respect they deserve rolleyes

the person who was taking the pics was reported to the social organisers who in turn asked the culprit to delete all photos of people at the event and that person refused to do so
the worst thing abut this is taht the culprit posted comment about the last incedent of secret picture taking and then does it themself
at the the social event
how can they comment on secet picture taking then do the same thing
no brains or wot

Hi Freckled Bird,
Does it sound so bad to ask a person to delete the photo which contains yourself in ? we are all adults, and surely ones privacy is ones own the choice of another memeber of id been asked if i minded photos being taken then i would have said "yes i do!"But i wasnt.
Because truth be known, i was one of the said members at this social who was on a picture, that didnt want to be on one, (and i say only 1 picture because that is the only 1 i have knowledge of being taken because i actually saw him doin it) (not of the many others he took without anyone else knowing he was doing so)When i saw what the said memeber was doing i politely asked him to stop what he was doing, and asked him to delete the photo with me on it. To which response i got was no,and a smirk .Now ive seen all the replies to an issue previously in the forum, i know i cannot name names, i also know that a lot of members are getting heckled over this issue i can also add that the said member has been quite outspoken too over this topic in the forum previously.
I can shout and scream all i want, i can swear, threaten violence, even involove the police, but why on earth couldnt the said memeber just delete the photo.?He was darn right obnoxious, and well intent on carrying on what he was doing.!
Well beleive it or not,im a normal person, with an opinion too, just like everyone else on sh, and its so unfair that we have to put up with these said idiots(ad i hate using that word, but alas thats what this member is).
all respect due to Ant and Laura the hosts of the social, they specifically had a sign on entering the social asking after all the trouble at a meet the other week, could there be no photos or videoing done at their social last this memeber still carried on doing what he thought he could do ....
also, Antand Laura were told about this member, and what he had done, and was still trying to do,and they did ask him to to stop and delete the photo, yet , the said member, still refused.!
So i ask you whats next? When will sh, be positive and make a decision to protect the members on the site one way or another?Surely, we shouldnt have to put up with the abuse , the nastiness, the arguement, all because we dont want to be on someone elses pictures? I am human after all, and i dont want to be on them.(my choice!)
And i will be reporting this member to sh admin, for the peace of mind of all sh members, not just me , who wish to remain annonymous for their own reasons..
I'll await any relies, thanks..
Mrs Benson (who wants to stay away from pictures)please?

Of course it doesn't sound bad - I never suggested that it was. To be honest, if I'd been organising it and he'd refused to delete after specifically being told 'no pictures', I'd have thrown him out.
I think that obviously, it matters little to some people, what restrictions are put in place for events - it's possible to take pictures secretly, as we know from the other thread. I'd like to know who it is by PM though, just in case he/she/they are attending another event that I am.

I read this one with a bit of interest.. I can't say that much but if this certain individual is who I think it is something realy does need to be done..
At the last Notts Social pics were being taken by a person who said they were for a web site we objected and asked for us not to be included but to be told we were spoil sports and he even tried again and got his partner to try and pose with us lol.. we ended up having a quiet word
Sorry we don't want to be on anyones bloody web site.. were not adverts ff's lol..
Might see where this goes and and even PM you to ask if its the same person.. if thats ok??

Me too!
This is the same as the private vodeoing issue in many ways.
I'm sure Admin will say 'If it happens at a munch then we can do something about it'. That's because it is only Munches that are sponsored by the site. Socials and private parties aren't.
If the perpetrator posted such photos on the site then Admin could do something about that.
From the description of this person's behaviour, I think amounts to being abusive and if enough members were prepared to testify that he had acted in that way maybe Admin would ban him then.
Tell me his name in PM and I'll certainly steer clear of him. You can tell me the name of the secret videoer as well for the same reason.

....Having removed their camera, deleted the picture and shoved it up their arse!!!
I am quite happy to both take pics and have my pic taken at munches, socials, get togethers etc as long as the pics are taken by me or by persons that I am happy to take them and they feature me and only other willing persons.
If someone took an uninvited pic of me in my normal day to day business then I would demand it were deleted (or see above).
I dont think there is a need to ban cameras at munches tbh. Who gives anyone the right to say that I cant, with willing friends only, take pictures of a social event featuring only myself and said participants?????

i am almost sure that if the pictures were taken and distributed then it comes under a legal issue of disclosure and if they didnt get the persons consent then it is illigal and then the site can do somthing about it as well ........ i could be totaly wrong on this as law isnt my durastiction

right, lets get things in prospective here please,
i dont want to be upsetting anyone really, i have only bee n the the site for just over a year, and i have had some great times at socials ,parties, ect...
but what i really cant see is why ..."if someone says no to a photo being taken of themselves, wether it be a sexual one, or a faceless one," does another perosn think its their right to take it?
Does anyone else think along the same lines as me or what?
Also, i cant get my head around this thought either.....
why on earth would a complete stranger to me, because even though ive seen this guys profile in chat (it could have been his partner of course in there)and ive seen and said hello to him at a few socials, (id still class him as a stranger) why on earth would he want a picture with me on it? im nothing to him, like hes nothing to me.....
i just think its strange....that it has to lead to this... children will play....

hi there laird,
i agree with you totally, im not a party pooper, if folks want a photo and all are willing then hey, why not?
but if i asked the said member nicely and he refused, and still after the hosts asking him to delete the photo he wouldnt, why does it have to lead to violence? id have loved to have shoved it up his arse as to speak, but hey, im a fun loving person lol
but the saidmeber was sp[otted only taking the 1 photo of myself, who am i to know what others were on his camera too?
its a right shambles, and i think something needs to be sorted by sh as to where it goes....

I think everyone above certainly agrees with you, I know I would be livid if someone took photos of me without asking, whether it be in a social situation or a playing situation. You have the right to your own privacy and I personally feel that no one has the right to invade that privacy.
If this peson/s had anything about themselves, they would have apologised and deleted the photos immediately. They were wrong to take them in the first place, but they could have showed some common sense and done the decent thing and deleted them when asked to do so.

Children can be cruel but they wouldn't do something as nasty as this. confused
I really do feel for anyone who had their pictures taken.

To be fair they were new.. and a bit mis-guided maybe at the time.. Not heard they have done since.. Still want to know what web site though... just in case. No harm done as yet anyway.. and i think they have learned from the mistakes made...

At the end of the day what this person did was totally wrong, he was asked politely to delete the one pic we knew about and he point blanked refused. Hes got no respect for others attending and why should he be allowed to get away with it. No witch hunt just about respect and discretion for others. None of which he was shown to have.

From what someone else has said on this thread, the organiser specified no pictures or videos anyway, so the person was well out of order.

Because, having been asked nicely, having had the position of personal security explained to them and having still refused to comply then I would feel that my safety, annonimity and that of my wife/ family was in jeopordy then forceful action to remove said threat would be neccessary.
