I went to Egypt in '05 was gorgeous, went diving for the first time, and saw the pyramids.
I was quite disappointed over the size of the Sphyinx (wrong spelling but you know what I mean), I know its a massive feat of engineering etc etc, but it was smaller then I imagined!!!
Even went inside a pyramid - not recommended if you are scared of enclosed spaces, or slightly on the large side. The tunnel we went down was 5ft heigh, and 4ft wide, and went down approx 40 ft.
I did get upset at the massive culture difference in the capital Cairo. Business men in brand new cars, next to kids riding donkeys and begging.
Made me cry!! It doesnt take much!!!
My memories of Egypt.
1. I wet inside a pyramid and it took me like 5minutes to get to the bottom. In order to walk down the stairs you have to stretch your legs right out one at a time. Its quite straining, i had leg ache for 3 weeks.
2. Little children begging and selling things everywhere you go
3. The roads appeared to not have any laws, people drove on any side they wanted
4. Little kids begged for water everywhere, i saw one little girl so excited that she had a tiny bottle of water taht she ran to show her friends, she fell over and scuffed up her knee and spilt it everywhere. She was crying her eyes out. I brought her a litre of ice cold water and she gave me a little stone sphnyx smile
5. The egyptian museum was huge, i didnt get to see everything, i saw king tut's headdress and the things they found in his tomb (amazing!) The mummies in the museum have a strange smell.
6. The nile has a very strange smell that isnt exactly nice buts its spectacular.
7. as you fly into cairo you can see a layer of smog over the city....as u fly in you leave blue skys behind for brown ones.
I could go on!
erm my bits without having to lift my belly up first or use a mirror redface lol
