It's just 5 key strokes to type Christmas instead of xmas!
I hate the xmas word... but not as much as I hate the P word! :giggle:
CHRISTMAS!
xmas is pant(ie)s!

Greed is slightly less. Materialism is more typing. Ummmm what about homeless?
yeah loads of different ways to spell things that are particularly relevant to this time of year

indeed.
a very pertinant reply.
the spelling panties... sorry christmas fills me dispair at the festival of greed and gluttony that many seem to be sucked into at this time of year.
one reason at least for my own little and petty demonstaration of non-participation.

I baked a whole pile of chocolate brownies for our local homeless shelter... does that count? wink
Yes poverty, loneliness and despair are all worthy things to consider, Yet still I think there is some room left for people to enjoy Christmas celebrations with family and friends.

I enjoy my family and friends all year around. I am blessed to have so many people in my life that love and support me.
I also spend all year thinking about others that are less fortunate in many ways.
I don't need or want a special day to do either thing.
Xmas is a valid way of writing Christmas. A shortened form used since Christmas first started. The X isn't English X it's a Greek letter pronounced chi and is the first letter of Christ.
Just thought I'd mention it.
And I would say that poverty, fear and hopelessness are more significant blights on the festive period than how we write the name.

Christmas is cool
I & my children dont have much family about during the rest of the year so when they are about at Christmas I enjoy that time with them.
I spend other times of the year thinking about others who are less fortunate too. Christmas adds a little extra focus to that for me.
I like and want, and to a lesser degree, need a special day to do these things Christmas suits my needs. the fact that somethings to do with Christmas I dont like for me is irrelevant. I still think the celebration is important.
Individuals have individual approaches and thats cool I so believe in that.
These are some of the reasons I enjoy Christmas and for all the reasons others have or dont have then Merry Christmas one and all biggrin
Not sure if anyone is interested - but I say a variant of Xmas on a Victorian magazine (courtesy of A Victorian Farm at Christmas). It was X-t-mas. But they would writ Tomas as Tho-s and such like.
