I know this is a Swinging site, but from time to time most watch a bit of telly, and I wondered how many SH members had switched to a flat panel TV and if so what type LCD or plasma?
Personaly I haven't been too impressed with LCDs. And as the for the HD broadcasts being shown in my local Sony centre, they revealed fine movement jitter.
So is it a flat-panel land for lots of SH members, or are many sticking with their trusty CRTs for the time being for their livingroom viewing experience?

My parents have one of these flat screen numbers and I can't watch telly in their house! It's like watching bad dubbing... all the time! The sound comes out and the lips don't move at the same time! I don't know if it's cause they have cooncil telly and not cable or not but it drives me mental!! 
My telly is ridiculously large and it had to be taken out of the box before we could get it through the door to my flat!

The one I bought recently for the bedroom is an LCD, 15in with a built in DVD player- mainly to maximise space.
Oh, and because I found a mounting bracket on sale in Asda which swivels & extends in every conceivable direction for the silly price of just over £4!!
So having bought the bracket- I needed a TV to put on it
We have no problems with viewing it, but in the living room have a normal 28in flatscreen. It is big & obtrusive as we have small rooms but it'll do for now!

Yep the old ones did and also suffered burn in but so far touch wood min has'nt
I would rather go with the better picture of a plasma for 5 ytears then LCD though.
LCD's can suffer bad motion blur which is terrible for footy

Doesn't make any difference... look at the wonders being talked about just lately - it's all good fun!
As for the TV we have a LCD in the kitchen and love it, the picture is crystal clear. My friend has a 42" plasma and it looks ridiculous in her room, totally overbearing. My computer is a flat screen and I would never go back to a CRT... it would look abs. massive now.

Instead of spending £1500+ on a plasma (which suffer from degredation on the active chemicals in the screen after 2-3 years regular viewing) get a Sony Vega CRT unit for general viewing and a decent 2K projector and screen for films, games and special events.
The Vega is the successor to the Trinitron and gives excellent resolution and are very reliable (my trinitron is almost 15 years old and still going strong), Sanyo projectors provide similar results and are a probably the most popular make in commercial hire companies. I use 10k Sanyo's for projections at gigs and found them rock solid with excellent definition and clarity. You can also take the projector & screen to friends and family if you want as they're not much bigger than a laptop.
As for HD ready, they haven't decided exactly which format of HD will be used, although the BBC seem to have settled on 1080p for now although this will probably change in the not too distant to 2K transmission, so HD ready doesn't really count for much atm, so wait for things to settle down before spending too much
