Terry-Jayne and I have been in regular correspondance with a guy who lives in Hertfordshire. It began on the chatroom and quickly progressed to email and phone calls.
Right away we could tell he was a nice guy and very genuine. We get loads of emails, pms, etc from guys who wish to meet Terry-Jayne and I, and we have got quite adept at sorting out the good guys from the usual one liners. We feel sure that half the blokes in Britain, honestly think they would be doing T-J a favour by visiting us, and giving her "9 inches" rolleyes
Anyone who knows T-J will be aware that she prefers guys to be friendly, genuine and honest and not coarse and vulgar, above anything else. This guy, Dave, is all that, and he makes T-J laugh a lot. Laughter is a great aphrodisiac smile
So we arranged to meet, and a date and time was set. Dave made a 2 hour drive from his home to Bournemouth and arrived at our home. We all got on famously, and everything was completely relaxed. We drank tea and chatted as if we had known him for ages :)
Sadly however, shortly after his arrival, he received a telephone call with some bad news, which meant he had to leave for home immediately. We were all completely disappointed that he had to leave so soon, especially T-J who was very excited all week, looking forward to his visit. He was most apologetic, but T-J and I understood that it was out of his control.
We will keep in touch and hope to arrange another meet with him soon. In the meantime however, we would like to publicly thank 'niceguydave', for being one of those rare nice guys who make this "hobby" so much fun.

Wow!....A breath of fresh air..... biggrin
In view of the amount of stick the single guys have been getting of late it makes a nice change to see something positive said for a change.
Nice 1 Jon......I hope the repeat appointment has a happier ending.

We said that to him, and wound him up over that. Thought maybe he had arranged a 'bad news' phone call incase we were 'mingers' and he needed to get out quick lol
But surely he wouldn't drive for over 2 hours just to have a cuppa and sweat, incase his phone call didn't come confused: :!:
Don't be such a cynic mate - it's doesn't suit you

You can be sure the drive would be worth it, my budding genealogist. You would be sure of my expert attention to details and opening up a whole new avenue of research for you
