PoloLady gave me the idea for this spin off thread!
What hobbies do you have that would shock or really surprise everyone on here?
I just could'nt imagine PL being anywhere near a set of knitting needles blink
I'll start by saying I don't seem to have any hobbies that I follow regularly at the moment because of time and money, but I have been known to play my flute from time to time, Amateur dramatics/ singing (badly!) scuba diving for a very short while but would do it more if the circs were right and lastly horseriding.
Stormy loves wargameing with passion which includes painting the little figures for the games and his favourite armchair hobbies are Kayaking and building. When I say armchair that means buying the mags for them and doing naf all else :giggle: Oh nearly forgot he reached very profficient levels in 3 martial arts too Kendo, iado and something else with a bow and arrow :confused2: I'm sure he'll put me straight when he comes home smackbottom Can't wait!

I geocache - its a bit like a high tech treasure hunt using a GPS receiver. I love it because it combines my love of gadgets and the chance to get out and about walking. Gets me out to interesting places and beauty spots I wouldn't otherwise make the effort to get to. biggrin
However it has a bit of a rep for being a geeky type of thing to do and when I've explained it to people in the past I've got some funny looks.

I have mentioned this hobby on my aspergers forum so I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before word gets out!
I am, and have been all my life an avid philatelist!
If you don't know what that means, then good. If you do know what it means I'm guessing you're clever enough not to hold it against me! :rascal:
Who care what peoples hobbies are - just as long as you can blame it on Polo! mad
lol
Ah yes, Kiss_Me I know only too well what a philatelist is - used to be one myself! wink
Nowadays, the only hobby I have any time for at all (and not really enought, at that) is music. Oh, and one other, that I daren't mention in a forum (though it's quite legal!). People will have to get to know me a lot better before I spill the beans on that one.

Now I am intrigued!!! A man of mystery aye? We have ways of making you talk Will.
Well I did have one serious hobby/obsession when I was a child (I blame my AS). I used to keep a book of all the car number plates I encountered, and then tried to see patterns in the /numbersfrequencies etc.

Not the worst hobby I've ever heard of....
How about photographing telegraph poles, memorising Argos catologues or train time tables.
No I reckon it's quite normal.
My hobby, I've mentioned before - tai chi. Not too weird but you do get some strange looks when you are spotted in public. lol
World War II
Everything about it facinates me, and I used to have the full contents of an air raid shelter in the shed, kitted out as it would have been.
That whole episode took up so much of my time I had to let go.
I'm in need of a new hobby now, any suggestions?
I do have a couple of interesting hobbies that would be deemed 'cool' but that would be bragging, and I just know Polo wouldn't condone such behaviour! :P

Bragging is fine - as long as it involves me and a helicopter lol
The hobby I would like to have is lots and lots of good times with a lady :rascal:
I guess my main hobby would have to be computers - I know boring rolleyes
Otherwise I like watching movies, listening to music, playing snooker and pool, swimming, going for the very occasional walk lol That sort of thing wink

As I said in PL's thread, I knit but more to keep me occupied on a quiet night shift than something I do all the time. I don't really have any hobbies as such, would be impending interior design course count as a hobby? I used to do belly dancing until our tutor left to have a baby ( she must have been practicing in front of her hubby wink )
I guess my main hobby is perving. I'm a proud perv and don't care who knows it :smile2:
I have a fairly large collection of geeky hobbies, but I'm well beyond caring what anyone thinks of me, so I don't mind admitting to:
wargaming
role playing
live action role playing
playing obscure german board games
making scale models
programming computers
etc, etc

There I was promising not to tell anyone and you did it yourself :giggle:
Apart from computers our main hobby is Hillclimbing. It's a good job I have always like motor racing as I would stuck at home most weekends otherwise :lol2:
Hmmmmm.......I been thinking about this one as to be honest I think everything I do is not very surprising but I guess that's because its stuff I do all the time.........if you see what I mean.....
So I'm not really sure what would surprise people on here about me.......so I asked Sheddy what he thought and he tells me that there's a lot that's suprising about me that doesn't come across on here.......but the main thing apparently is that i'm into the arts and am cultured.... dunno
but that's not really a hobby I think so I reckon I'll have to go back to the drawing board..... confused
oohhhh.........I've just remembered........I was the face of the Brownie Guide catalogue one year...... redface but nah.......that's not a hobby either......
maybe I'm just dull....... sad
Forgot to also add, I am a mobile phone freak, I repair the ones that get damaged and returned to the netowrks, and also those that are sent in for recylce due to faults etc etc. then either sell the decent ones on, or send the crappy ones to charities to either give to the folks they care for, or to sell on.

Trust me hun your anything but dull kiss
The lady under sells herself she really does, she doesn't have much time for hobbies at the moment but PKHQ is littered with examples of things she does and they are not just fads as everything she does she does to bloody high standard and enjoys, . She mentioned arts but what she didn't tell you is that every painting in every room she did her self speaking of which where is my glass you were going to paint me? There are the flying lessons when she gets the chance. She loves horse riding when she gets the chance.
A quick trip into the spare bedroom and there is a cello and her tennis rackets so I guess you can count them (but strangely despite having the monster of musical instruments taking up space I'm not allowed my golf clubs there lol )
There is a hell of a lot more to her than blonde hair and stunning looks as I am not ashamed to admit I found out when I got to know her.
biggrin

My hobbies include
Sci-fi, fishing, DIY, photography and I have recently started teaching myself guitar mainly fingerstyle which is something i always wanted to do. I dont do them all the time but go in phases on one or the other.
Other than that one thing i would love to do is build a Hornby railway layout a big massive one.
also
Get myself the Apollo airfix kit, the big one and do that.
Actualy i'm going back to the things i did or wanted to do as a kid.

Let me know if you want any bespoke scenery. I've still got about 8 pieces here from the ex, he was into all that Warhammer stuff too. wink
well thanks to a trip round the imperial war museum, and museum of science and industry in manchester this weekend, gem now thinks i'm a right airplane / steam engine geek!
i tried to explain that every bloke who ever lived is a frustrated fighter pilot / train driver at heart, but she was having none of it! as for my eulogy to fred dibnah . . . . it fell on deaf ears!
obviously she has no soul, if she can't feel the throb of a merlin engine in her breast! rolleyes

sheddy it was very, very good. the royal armouries in leeds is of course loads better, but it was very good nevertheless. we're talking the manchester one right? not the london one. the only let down is . . . . . not enough planes and tanks, and Boys Own stuff like that, but some great interactive exhibits. the latest Bomber Command exhibition is great, with reall poignant pilots logs and letters home all over the place. oh . . . . and a great big harrier hanging from the ceiling! biggrin
tell you what, next time you're at PKHQ, we'll take you. how's that? kate can do whatever posh things she does, we'll make aeroplane noises and lovingly stroke a T-37 and stuff! ;)
oh . . . and seeing as how it was a kinda X-games thing this weekend . . . . we got to watch some complete loons do a spider man thing and climb up the side of the big steel bit. climbing and planes. a marriage made in heaven!
i'll shut up now . . . . . redface :P
neil x x x ;)
i hvae been to the london imperial war museam and science museams, weel worth a visit and free entry too!
i work on drag race cars for hobby and normally get paid for it when im working on other peoples cool
I was very lucky to turn a hobby into my own business. You can't beat getting paid for somthing that you enjoy doing.
Long hours, but worth every minute.
No, it's not making porno's.... but that would be fun too I guess!
lol
