I get fed up, as well as tired and irritable of course, when i fail to be able to sleep. I've suffered since childhood with bad sleep patterns and live quite happily on four hours a day sleep though somedays even that escapes me. I know that i'm going to be awake now until bedtime tomorrow night and i'll probably be more irratable as the day goes on.
What failing do you have in a similar vein to me that irks you in everyday daily life but you put up with it because you have to
Too much caffeine lol.
Best wishes lost, hope you get some shut eye soon. Makes me grumpy as hell when I cant sleep, worse than PMT.
Yawn.......did that help.........yawns are supposed to be catching

I believe the most important things to stay mentally and physically happy are a good diet, exercise and an healthy sleep pattern.
The sleep is the hardest bit for me.
Avoiding drugs including tea/coffee and alcohol that have a direct link to bad sleep patterns has worked well for me as has learning techniquesto quieten my mind.
Good luck Lost.
"Pooh, I can't sleep"
Well you could stop talking to your stuffed bears for a start ....
My sleep pattern is a mystery to me - until I was about 25 I could always sleep, but lately.........
Then about a week ago I started to sleep for England
I think I caught up a year in a week!!! but now back to churning worries - that I have no control over - and sleepless nights.
Why is it you are most tired about a minute before the alarm goes off?????
Audio books worked for me.
You have to keep playing the same one, over and over, until you are no longer interested in the story, but it becomes a soothing voice in the background.
The light-hearted ones worked best, such as the BBC's Dad's Army, Hancock's Half Hour etc
I find reading any text book about maths works for me. Oh yeah, not surfing forums at 1:40 in the morning helps to! Of course, after kids sleep becomes an option and not a necessity.
Well it's a bit better than 'I can't pooh!'
Actually it probably isn't is it?
I sleep worse when I've had alcohol and if things are on my mind from work. But that's not what you mean is it?
When I can't sleep I just lie as relaxed as possible and convince myself that I am getting the best possible rest in the circumstances. That way I accept it and stop fighting it and usually drop off.
.
I find the basic yoga breathing helps. Just lying there focussing on the breath going in and out. Keeping the in-breath the same length as the out-breath (harder than you think) is more than enough to drive those annoying circular thoughts out of my brain and let me get to sleep.
