My youngest went to her first ever concert last night - she's 14. It was at the Apolo Hammersmith and the band was McFly.
Bless her heart... her and her big sister (19) waited until nearly midnight outside the stage door in the pouring rain hoping their idols would come out to sign autographs. In the end, there were FOUR girls left...
Her main hearthrob, a bloke named Dougie, poked his nose out and looked like he was going to come to talk to her... but his manager grabbed him and shoved him back inside.
I just wanted to say that the management and staff of the Apollo AND McFly are mean not to have done something for these kids. Given the awful weather, they could have at least arranged somewhere dry for them to wait... OR, they could have at least made sure the kids got there longed for autographs.
Contrast this with my experience of a similar nature with Frank Bruno... aged 6, my eldest was nuts about him in the aftermath of the "H.P. Sauce" campaign.... HE sent for the official photographer to take pics of him hugging my eldest, and we came away with armfuls of Bruno merchandise.
There seems to be a lack of class these days...
I rmemeber going to see Joseph and his Terchnicolour dream coat with my mum when I was younger.. Both of us loved Philip Scholfield so I waited at the atge door along with hundreds of others for his autograph... my mum stood patiently at the very bgack of the queue.. and as she was last.. spent about half an hour just chatting to him. Thought it was really nice of him to put up with her!!!!

Can't agree with you more Heather.
I used to work on the maintenance team at my local Macarthur Glen and we had it redeveloped. The design for the redevelopment was done by no other than Laurence Llewwllyn-Bowen (think I spelt it right)
The re-opening also coincided with the release of one of his books. He was due to do a book-signing for 2 hours.
He actually spent over 6 hours signing books and talking to people and generally being an all-round good egg.
It's people like him that make this world a better place and not the prima donnas that only want fame and fortune at any price.
For Mcfly to have left your daughters standing in the pouring rain is unforgiveable.
Why can't pop stars make little bit of effort for their fans, because after all, where would they be without the fans who buy their records and therefore put money in their pockets.

PS.....the camp thing with Laurence is just a front. He has an absolutely gorgeous wife and two lovely daughters
i remember stalking pop stars too!
i refused to ever wash my left hand after i touched the leed singer of my favourite band when i was about 12.... my parents had to physically hold me under the tap! (i have STILL not forgiven them!).
i also had half a biscuit in my bedroom that i had stolen from my fave solo singer halfway through him eating it... i had it for months.. till my bloody mother ruined it again by "dusting" it away when she was cleaning! evil
had many moment getting stuck ontop of fences trying to climb into hotells the back way, catching awfull colds standing in the rain for hours, and smacked arses from running away from home to follow them.
but hey.. at least they DID notice and make the effort to at least come and say hi.... or wave through the windows.
i think its so bad that this day and age they make no effort at all... in what other line of work can you treat your customer soooo poorly.. and still have them clamouring to pay you?????
thes people need to remember who put them where they are... and that if they dont keep said people happy.. they can just as soon put them back!
The problem these days is that its all about the "bands" are just thrown together and have no love for the music or fans.
Well my 14 year old went to the NEC back in march to see Busted wait for nearly 2 hours after the concert for them to come out and they did they all had an individual picture taken with her and a group photo and they signed her program There were 4 other girls and they did the same for them too which was great. Daughters gone off them now and is waiting to sell the program on e-bay!!!!!!
I how ever have 15 programs of various ages all signed by Boy George and even met him back stage after seeing in London when I had cancer. And NO ONE is getting their hands on my collection!

Have to agree with you there, what do they care it's only the money they are interested.
Britney Spears did a classic a few years ago,all her fans waited for hours in the pouring rain at the premier of her film,When she arrived she walked straight in and ignored them.
But saying that Tom Cruise knows how to keep the fans happy. he seems like a geniune guy!

Hmmm and people wonder why they won't come out from the safety of their theater/hotel/armoured tour bus.

The thing you have to remember with J-Lo is not to be fooled by the rocks thats she's got cuz, she's just, she's just Jenny from the block
I had a great experience with Rod Stewert.
It was at the Safeways party in the park a couple of years ago. I went with a couple of girl friends. One dared me to flash my boobs at Rod Stewert. So I went to the toilet, took off my top kept my jacket on and we both marched to the front of the stage. She was swinging my bra to get his attention  which it did. he turned to look at me and I opened my top right up. biggrin :D It was brilliant. His face was a picture. She threw my bra at him which he picked up and kept in his hand, put it in his pocket when he finished confused
Little did I know it wnt on tv and prince charles also saw redface
After loads of people came up and congratulated me :D and took photos. One guy took one but I had to flash for him and also have Rod in the background. The fella sent me the picks and I wrote to Rod and he signed them for me cool .
It was a great time, never to be forgotten.
If anyone wants to see them I'll mail one to ya!!
