Post Count Replacement. ?

May I make this plea to the Three Wise men of SH :-
Mark
Fred Flintstone
Sgt Bilko
and not forgetting the Deciples (ooops moderators wink

)
With all the crying over the removal of those little numbers to the Left of our screens, ie, the "Post Count". Can it not be replaced by a more suitable and meaningfull count .? confused

I propose the post count be replaced with a number showing how many small baby elephants wearing bowler hats the forum member has managed to fit into an old red british phone box on a Wednesday afternoon, say, between 3 and 4pm.

Ive suggeted it before but what I would most like to see ath the side of each poster is an optional Status announcement that would identiify active swingers fron non active ones or people just here for the friendship.
Suggestions would be: Active Swinger seeknig one to one, Active swinger seeking couples,Soft Swingers, Non Active swinger, Just looking. Those five catagories, (or more, could be invoked when a person first applies there profile. That was we would all know who we were talking to.
Maybee there should be more catagories I dont know but im sure it would help.

isn't it just as easy to have a link to a photo ad on your forum signature so that people can look and find out what you are looking for (if anything)

the above by foxylady seems to be the bset way forward after reading other peoples ideas for this presumed problem .

I'm not so sure, I suppose as long as you can opt out of it or edit whenever you wish to then it wouldn't be so bad but not all of us are looking for the same thing all the time. I am not looking for anything specific but when opportunities have arisen I have decided on their merits whether to go with them. At present I am not actively looking for anyone but that can and will probably change later on.

I don't see the need for any kind of "status" display in people's posts. That's what the profile is for.

If it was next to the post it may, in certain circumstances, gice some insight into why that person has posted as they do.
Ofo curse you should be able to put a , No comment, or change the status as and when its relevant

The only use for it that I can see is to indicate restrictions on who you want to talk to, which is fine if that's what you're here for. Personally I'd leave it blank.

I'm in agreement with Ice. Surely having a *status* display next to your name is exactly like the + symbol which was used briefly in the chatroom? evil

I didn't wish to have it in there nor would I wish it on the forum either. That's what the ad section is for - advertising your availability or not as the case may be.
For a start there would be way too many categories IMO. Just try imagining how each person would wish to categorise themselves, and then have a catagory to cover every one. It just wouldn't be workable. I can think of at least a dozen categories rolleyes

Besides, it harks back to having everyone in a little boxed category again. Do we really want this on here too? Don't we already have enough labels throughout life? confused

Would we only talk to someone if they fitted into our own approved category? Person X won't converse with person A because his category is not one I approve of (maybe swinging without wife's knowledge etc etc).
It's restrictive and smacks of elitism. I can see no reason for it whatsoever. We may not wish to swing with certain people, but does that mean we can't converse with them on here? I sincerely hope not. We are all equal on this cafe and so it should remain.
Searching through the archives on here, I see that the race to collect post counts began to rise sharply well before Easter and some of those members are still guilty of posting some pretty banal stuff in what seems to be justified only by raising their post count.
One would think the novelty of being new and silly would have worn off within a couple of weeks, but especially by now :roll: :?
It really all boils down to people needing to take a look at what they post, but as some seem to have failed to do this and still post tripe day in day out, then the only solution IMO is to keep the post count off altogether. Likewise the *status* sysbols or any other form of boxing us in :?
