The system does not seem to accept 2 number first part postcodes so if like me you have one then you have to add a number. Result is obviously confusing. Would it be better to have people register with town name?
Whats the post code?
Yes town search was better was there a reason it was changed?

When I first updated my profile, I put in a Manchester postcode....I chose to put in M9 which it said was invalid. I then tried M1 which also came up as invalid. When I tried M99 it said this was invalid but offered me a "valid" option which was M9....full circle.

part of the problem is that after putting in a post code the town drop down below the post code box needs to be updated, there's a slight delay, this needs to be looked at, I've had emails from people having problems with M1 and E5, I've tried them both and they do work but it needs to be better.

Perhaps a simplification of how the details are entered....
"Area...." etc. in a drop down.
"County.."
and leave it at that....
or dont show the town dialogue until the postcode has been entered so the update occurs on the re-fresh of the page and they have to backbutton or "change post code" button to change the postcode once entered.... oh the joys of off loading the validation to html lol
Yea... know what you mean there... put you guys at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to finding people.... best thing to do.. is play with the postcodes till you find one that sticks out a mile
PR1 = Preston.... spot on!
PR9..... liverpool area... hmmmm errrr maybe not!!

I think this sounds a much better idea. I know someone has posted a link to a postcode-to-town map in another thread (and thanks for that! ;) ) but I'd rather not have to refer to a "handy reckoner" every time I'm looking through the ads section. It's very time consuming and not exactly user-friendly. I'm just interested in being able to quickly spot people who are in areas I'm interested in without having to refer to a separate screen.
