Can anyone tell me how or if it's possible to do a search for profiles in the actual area someone is in (ie) say i want to find people in blackpool ect tryed n failed so far

My search its the bottom on the list of the User menu. To the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Click on it and you should get a screen up with Ad search in the top right hand corner.
Click on that and you should get a screen with a list for you to choose from of suitable people.
Part of the list shows distance from you. If you have put the correct postcode in for yourself in your profile you should be able to search for local people.

Yep very useful except the first time I filled it in and clicked enter I ended up with 1000 men to choose from ... I had to be more selective to narrow the choice down and I still ended up with over 100 men's profiles to trawl through .. hope you got a long afternoon or evening to work through your list.
One tip make sure you look to see if they have been online recently as some have been and gone weeks ago.

I had to be more selective to narrow the choice down and I still ended up with over 100 men's profiles to trawl through .. hope you got a long afternoon or evening to work through your list.

If it is a specific place you are looking for rather than a certain distance away from where you are (example, you are visiting blackpool) you could click on the search button and in the text box, type in the name of the place. You will also have to use the various buttons to decide who you want to meet ie male, female, couple, smoker etc.
It is not 100% accurate as some people may have that word written into their profile (ie Blackpool - someone could have said they visited Blackpool last year and they would come up in the search), but it will narrow it down for you.

Ta NWC i did all that and yes if it's writen in there profile it will come up feck i haven't the time to click on all the profiles it came up with .
Why wont it work tho if i type in a postcode for the area your looking for grrr again come on most people have put a postcode on there profile i'm sure it could be simpler as i'm quite simple it needs to be

It does work, say for instance the place you are visiting is approx 50 miles away. Type the name of the place in and any profiles which come up on the list which are showing more, or a lot less miles away, you just dont click on them.
(or you could temporarily change your profile to show the postcode of where you are visiting)
Warming the Bed
one problem i have found is that distances appear to be worked out by gps. as i live by the coast, (on one side of the thames estuary), a distance could be given as say 35 miles whereas in reality & travelling by road, it is probably more like a 120miles as have to get from mine to dartford crossing then to destination. would it not be possible to include county in profile information to overcome this?

Just do what Kiss (Miss Kiss) suggested, change your location to where your looking, say for example Blackpool like you mentioned, change your own location to FY4 then do a search for members under 10 miles from you.
Best idea so far but why does it have to be so complicated

When I was away up north with work I wanted to look up profiles/adverts that were in that area.. a clever woman suggested that I temporarily changed my postcode to that of wher I would be staying, then search for members that were local to me.
It worked a treat! :rascal:
