Posting Pictures. Help please

Can anyone point me to a discussion thread on how to post pictures, images, photos, etc in forum topics.
All I see when I preview my posts is a little white box with a little red cross where I hope to see the image that I wish to insert in my post.
I've got a bunch of cartoons and funny pics that are relevant to discussions to which I wish to contribute. Sometimes a picture does tell a thousand words and on these occasions it is preferable to text.
I'v posted a cartoon on one of my personal websites then copied and pasted the cartoon's address. Alas, although the address appears after "Img" anf before ""Close Tags" , the picture itself does not appear in preview. Only the aforementioned red cross in a white box.
Any suggestions or pointers to a useful topic are most welcome.

The same thing puzzles me as well, Riff Raff, on the few occasions I have tried to include images in a post. I hope someone can help - this will bump the post back to the top anyway.

The url should be between the and tags, with no spaces. The url that you paste should include the file extension, such as .jpg but nothing after the file extension. I find the easiest method is to right click the image you want to insert, click on "Properties", highlight the url up to and including the file extension, copy, and paste between the tags.

Also in some cases it could be that the server the image is hosted on has been set up to block image hot linking.

i`d like to learn how to do this as well, maybe we could have just one post for practice, ppl that know can just ignore it, would the mods let that kind of post stay on so we don`t piss people off as we try to learn the ropes and interupt some of the threads

But if thats the case I think you can usually get round it by right clicking on the picture, select "Properties", then copy the http address of the image.
paste the copied address here,
(example)
then place the img tags before and after
(example)
