One has to be very carefull how one words one's posts! I have just been told off by an irate gentleman for wording a post a certain way and he interpreted it in a completely different way, needless to say, I apologised and tried to explain what I meant.
I hope he doesn't report me to Mark or the Moderators, because, I didn't set out to deceive anyone and all I can do is to say that I made a genuine mistake!

It is so easy for the written word to be misinterpretated when used in a forum such as this one where posts tend to be quite short. That is why the use of emoticons is often vital to understand the tone of the writer. Without the emoticons after my initial comment in this post you would have no idea if I was serious or not.

yes you do. you have to choose your wording carefully ((( please don't 
you lot ffs! ))) and it's very very easy to get the tone wrong when people can't see your face or hear your voice. hence the over use of emoticons. just to be clear we are actually just ripping the piss in the nicest possibly way, and not just ripping the piss!! even then it can seem sarcastic. we've all been bitten by that one i expect. wouldn't worry too much! hey, i've got 100's of the feckers!
best bet, write it, don't submit it just yet, if you're still happy after a third or fourth read even 10 minutes later, then submit. even then very easy to get it completely wrong! i know!
