I usually make a mental list of people I would like to meet and then when it comes time totally forget and just blunder round all night and spend the next 6 weeks thinking "Damn I wish I had met soandso" ...

lol I do that too!
That's me too. But it ain't so bad. Preconceived ideas can lead one astray. Don't think 'I want to meet them'.
Let it happen naturally and you'll be surprised at what you discover!!

"Let it happen" sounds good, but I can think of at least two people who I wanted very much to meet at munches, hovered around for ages trying to say hallo, and never managed it, as they were chatting to other people for ages. Some people say there's an art to the polite interruption, but if so, I've still got to learn it.

Polite interruptions? Anything that starts "Can I buy you a drink?" is polite enough for me!! lol

this is where I have an advantage (i tend to stick out like a thumb.... but i get really embarassed because people will come up to be and say "hi fabio" when i have no idea who they are.....
first thing i find out is that i have done nothing to annoy them!! lol
but i am like you... I tend to wait and wait and wait for people.. best place to catch most people is when they are waiting for a drink at the bar.....
