can anyone advise me how to hide my sh profile from i being able to be accessed on google....i have been made aware that you can access profiles and info about user ids on google...i have hidden it on another site but cannot find the privacy settings on sh to hide this profile from general searches on google
my hubby searched my id although it doesnt show my pics it shows various things i have posted which i find a little alarming....as i prefer descretion...i have managed to change my settings elsewhere and have attempted to hide them from here...i'll try in the morning after logging off for a while to see if it has worked...they are still showing at the mo though
The best way to protect yourself is not to make face pics public. Set up a private album and only open it to those members you trust and/or intend to meet. That way you are well protected. I never put face pics in the public album. Travis
Annie, agree with Tmann re pictures. one way to check is go to main SH page, http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/index.html but instead of logging into SH scroll down and follow Pictures in Galleries Things to Do Latest Forum Threads etc. shows what is 'internet' accessible, though need to be a site member and logged in to actually display profiles or other things Re the 'other site', yes they have some options to hide things, however usually best set when creating a/c as once search engines have had a few hours even if you then set their privacy filters it's amazing what non-site members can see also.
The forums have not been hidden from google, the rest of the site is. Your ads and profile cannot be found via google, but I am dissapointed the forum posts are not protected, it wouldnt take much. The only reason I can suggest it isnt hidden is for advertising the site and generating more interest by using our forum banter to match search terms. I would like a site admin to comment on this, although im sure the T&Cs have it covered, if the forum posts are going to remain 100% searchable via google I would expect to be allowed a name change free of charge. I joined when this was a much smaller site, and half the world didnt know what google was, I used my real name as Im not ashamed of anything I do and didnt care if people who visited the site found out, even if they knew me IRL. Although I dont mind sharing my thoughts with other members or people browsing the site Im not sure some of my bad jokes and dirty bastard tales would go down too well with potential clients or employers, or my 85 year old gran, who I have taught to use email and the net, including googling things.
Andy, HnS and Fraser are correct and nothing has changed, it has always been this way. My way of looking at it is that no one ever joins a site like this using their real name or thats what I am going to say if anyone ever asks me
We don't use our real names on here at all but there are photos of me that come up when I put in a search with our profile name. To be honest, I'd really rather that didn't happen, however I work on the principle that a person would have to know our profile name (or randomly guess it) and combine it with the site name in the same search, so it's highly unlikely that anyone would put all those criteria in together as a search and then find the link to us on here and then think "hey that's my cousin / colleague / daughter"..... I hope!

I agree with this - I guess I'm comfortable enough with the pics & indeed being on a swingers' site not to care that much. Otherwise I'd remove / make private the pics.
I just googled our profile name and it's just forum posts that come up. I even did google images and no pictures came up. On the 'other' site we have changed our settings so that we cant be searched but verifications done by others still show. I agree that you shouldnt put anything on that you wouldnt want people to know and keeping your face pics in private is a good idea.
Nothing on the internet can ever be guarenteed to be private. Hiding identifiable pictures and not giving personal details in posts and adverts is the key thing. I can understand the desire for personal data safety but the web is too big and too free (and long may it remain so!!!!) to be considered a safe place.
But how did your parents know that you were going to be "Big" when they gave you that name at birth? Ok, ah can understand the Fraser bit as it's obviously your family name but to have a first name like Big is a bit presumptuous, and then to add an underscore as a middle name is ripping the piss, ffs you must have been bullied at school for that
But how did your parents know that you were going to be "Big" when they gave you that name at birth? At 10lb 9oz I was a freak :hunk: I also think my cock might even be a day older than me, I was born just after midnight but I think it came out a good few minutes before the rest of me :rascal:

Woah it posts!! Thats great to see, sorry I missed that earlier J
No malice meant, Just following on from justwantfun's post: If I put into google "justwantfun swinging heaven" it brings up our ads. I even googled my own OP name - brought me straight to forum posts.
