Going to be taking some "photos" for my private gallery tomorrow with my other half, but we would like to make a video too... the only thing is, is that the video's won't be private... is there anything we can do about this? if not will just have to put them on a dvd for our own pleasure..... I don't want everyone seeing me bits.. just a few that I want to invite!!!!
Any ideas peeps?
biggrin
that sounds like the voice of experience...am I right?
lp
Will give it a try... maybe one of the moderators can come up with a plan to have private vids too?
Ps loads have been reading this but not replying...
Don't think you can make them private on here dunno
I've zipped vids an sent them via email as file would be too large otherwise... as Whips said, keep them short smile
Good luck :)
Why do you have to post them? If you want to make private videos then just don't put them on here... that way you can be as naughty as you want and enjoy watching them back.
I want them private so only my other half can see them only - only a few have access to my private photo gallery... don't know if I would feel comfortable everyone seeing them.. do you know what I mean?
How are you btw honey??
xx

keep them quite short and put them in to zipped files.

Or just use really good compression codecs wink
oooohhh this is a good one for me....go a couple of vids that I want to bandy about to random people by email (so be careful if i have yr email addy....that was a joke BTW wink)
They are around 3 mins long but to HUGE to send via email and take about 45 minutes to send via msn...and these zipped things sound just the thing I am looking for.......hw do i zip y vids please...in words of one syllable or less for a techy numpty please biggrin
soz for the hijack mskit :D
get a copy of winzip or winrar, ask them to compress a file, choose the file you want to send and it zippes them up into a nice little zip file which you send off.
this them gets unzipped and expanded the other end.
think of it like sending an airbed through the mail wink

(or you could just compress it using the codec on the animation preset)

Problem is you can't compress something that's already compressed, at least not very much anyway.
To Kitty, please bear in mind that nothing is ever private whenever it enters the Internet.
No problem bonedigger... do you want my email addy wink
Peanut... I am aware of that and have decided to keep vids private xx dont mind the photos as much!
I have got rar.. might get one of my techie geek friends to have a go at doing my photos for me as the files are too big and cant download them to my private gallery
Have a good day all!

if the video is avi or mpg then it's already compressed(in fact most video is pretty much compressed as far it'll go anyway), winzip or winrar won't do much more for it apart from enable you to add a password to make it more difficult to view, even then it's fairly weak security.
Nice to get a reply from someone who admits they're a geek... I was going to call myself Missgeek.. but Misskitty was more apt...
Thanks for the info... its much appreciated xxxx
My sole contribution to this thread is to not forget to send me the video.

Not entirley true.
You can continually recompress video as much as you want but eventually it will get to the point of being unwatchable. The amount of compression it can take is dependant on the footage as fast paced action and detailed images begin to suffer quite quickly (hence the appalling quality of cable tv)
As for PC based files, In the case of AVI's (and MOV's) it's all dependant firstly on what codec you use (unless you choose the uncompressed option) and secondly on the settings for that codec. Broadcast edit systems are generally based around a system called Mjpeg (Motion Jpeg compression) which is then divided into quality bands depending on the edit stage you're working on.
Net based video is usually heavily compressed due to the bandwith required, with sites like Youtube generally using Flash as their compression system (Youtube even have their own version of Flash compression). Mpg based files (DVD compression- unless you're still using Mpeg1) works by storing the data from 2 different frames of the video and some additional data from a frame between them which is usually based round a GOP or group of pictures of 13 frames. So, from these 2 and a bit frames of data it can start to work out what is contained in the missing frames of video. Once you understand the way it all works them you can get some pretty suprising results in the file size to quality ratio and i can usually get a 5gb full pal video (even managed it with HD) down to about 100mb 320x240ish with very little noticeable loss in quality.
With a little research and a bit of techy knowledge, there is no need to zip up video files to send them to friends, just stream them over using (much better for file transfers than MSN)
