It has been discussed but not decided on because we have no idea how many options to have :lol2:

So does that mean you (collectively you that is) decided it was better to do nothing for the time being and leave members without a courteous PM until someone raises the issue again and you finally do decided? confused

Your ad has been deleted because it was the same as the one in CsC
Your ad has been deleted because it is out of date
Your ad has been deleted because you are a couple advertising in WsW

Using the examples you have provided, it appears they need two standard replies:
Wrong Category - that will cover 1 & 3
Date elapsed - that will cover 2
Add another one for:
Content/Terminology - to cover borderline wording etc.
And you may be left needing to add another one or two options, if that.
Surely you don't believe you need a button for MsW in CsW and another for CsW in WsW and another for.... they are all wrong category. The standard message can explain the typical reasons an ad may be deemed to be in the wrong category - just as it could for Content/Terminology.
At least there would be some indication of why an ad was deleted and more importantly some indication of how the member/s can avoid the next one being deleted too - which btw will cut down on some of your time spend deleting ads for a second/third/forth time. wink
I assume if you have a standard PM message for emails/phone numbers contained in ads (as this also issues a warning) that the other more serious offences already have a standard message with a warning contained.

99% of the time we do send a message but there is always the odd one or two that get deleted and no message sent. It is a number thing, when you are dealing with what can a couple of hundred ads being placed, it is easy to click on the wrong buttom and the ad and the link to the person who placed it has gone. It is not very often that this happens, but it can happen (and I know I accidently deleted one on Sunday but luckily I knew the person, so was able to send a normal pm explaining)

Like Dawnie mentioned, we have discussed this and a lot of us do a few standard messages we can cut and paste and amend as appropriate, but there are so many different reasons why an ad may have to be removed, that standard messages just would not cover them all. We did even talk about the standard messages you mentioned above, but have found from experience that if we just send a message saying, for example, it was in the wrong category, then very often another message comes back from the person who placed the ad asking for a detailed explanation as to why it was in the wrong section. So we end up dealing with 2 messages rather than the original one message.
As for time saving element and not having to delete the ad for the 4th/5th time etc, believe me it doesnt save time. Some people just go ahead and replace the advert back in the same section over and over and over again. No matter how often you tell them, they still think they can get away with it and we wont notice.
Then there are the spammers, who just stick it in every category they possibly can, just so they think they can get noticed. Oh yes, they do get noticed, but not for the reaons they are hoping for rolleyes
Which ever way we deal with the ads, there are just too many reasons an ad could need removing to have standare messages that would please everyone.
Philstarandchoozy, if you do have any other queries over where your ads have gone, it is always worth pm'ing one of the Mods who will be able to give you an idea as to what has happened to it lol

If I may summarise - some of you do send messages (and have to spend time to cut, paste and amend) and some don't send messages. Thus there is no consistency in what you do?

Just to clarify - I am suggesting the standard reply may be one for a general reason (such as wrong category) but the explanation contained in it includes a list of typical reasons for the ad being deemed whatever the heading title reads. Example:
Wrong Category
Dear Member
Your ad has been deleted as it appeared to have been posted in an inappropriate category.
Typical reasons for ads to be deemed to be in the wrong category are:
You hold a couples account, both you and your partner intend to be present - you are advertising in women seeking women. This is not acceptable because of x,y,z.
You hold a single males account - you are advertising in couples seeking couples. This is not acceptable because of x,y,z.
So on...
So on...
This list is not exhaustive but an aid to help prevent you from the disappointment of a further ad being deleted for the same or similar reason.

You may never please everyone, but there is room to at least be consistent and of course courteous wink

If members were courteous enough to get their ads in the right categories in the first place, there would be no problem

Ah... two wrongs do make a right confused
Though not really the most constructive method of improving customer service

as far as i was aware dawnie our ad was in the rite place, the first time.
the point of sending a message to me, would have been to have informed me that it was not and why it was not in the rite place.
that way i would have then been better informed as to where to place an add the next time i did one and not have it deleted again and so start another self fulfilling prophecy.
And two single SH members swinging as a cpl cannot post in the couples seeking whatever because of their individual single status
...and despite my ad for a 3sum being deleted because of my single status account , I was told I could post the same thing in the LMU section...
dunno
