Only a quick question to ask how many people know that the forum pages are not private and you don't have to be logged (or even have an SH account) in to read them?
Only reason I ask is because Kinks didn't realise. It is in the information about the forums, but thought I'd ask to see, more out of curiosity than anything?
Just for a laugh, why not try going to google, typing
site:www.swingingheaven.co.uk "YourUserNameHere"
and pressing enter.... See what I mean ;)
(I have tried to setup a poll, but the site seems to have farked.... Kinda setup a half poll..... Admins... Help.... think summin's broken... When I click add to add a option field, it unticks the poll option, then just errors when I click apply.. Oh another bug while I'm thinking, goto the playroom, there is a button top right says report a bug, its busted ;)
Anyhow... just reply, I give up with setting it up as a Poll....
most web sites work in just the same way. in that you can view most of their contents, without having to be a member.
I'd echo duncan, most websites are the same: there are features/sections you can use/browse without membership. It's not an SH-only thing.
I'm a member of a photography forum and a few to do with other hobbies. The same happens if you go to their sites.
You should never put anything on any site on the internet you don't want others to read or see!
also if you read through the 'about us' section, you will find that sh has received a legitimate status. which in all aspects approves of how it goes about its activities.
Wasn't saying that its wrong or unlike other sites, I was just curious how many people realised, think people are under the impression that most of this site is 'protected' behind username and password. Just wondered how many didn't know it wasn't.
I work in the industry and know nothing on the net is private, no matter what.
just a lot of people tend to use the same images, names and taglines on all forums, same way as people tend to use the same password for everything. Just human nature, and thought id mention it as was suprised that kinks and another member had no idea ut was not a private forum.
To be fair I didn't realise the forum was visible 2 just anyone. I think some have kinda missed the point ?? Think Apey was just curious as to how many people knew this was possible. Call me blonde because I didn't
To be honest I've always assumed that people would have had a good nosey round the site before commiting to a membership. I know I did. In fact, it was the temptation of wanting to reply to a forum thread that made me sign up! :thumbup:
I appologise. Yes flower, you did answer the question (although quoting kinks to answer kinda made it out of context, hense my appology), most people however just put that most of the internet is like that. Agreed it is. However I'm sure people who post on here don't realise that it's as publicaly available as it is.
