Question ?- Why on the members Homepage do we have a section that says 'members who may interest you'? This section which I believe is an 'extras' benefit??? for example - How are a couple in Aberdeen going to be of any practical interest to us?
Though they maybe the loveliest people in the country, with a profile ticking all our boxes we live in Gloucestershire just a a couple of minutes down the road (not) for cying out loud!
This section is to be honest 'crap' - At one time you had an option of setting the profile parameters for'those who might interest you' this was a good idea, but not anymore. Why not?
I feel a little crap whinging about this sort of stuff but hey! We payed for extras and what do we get? A silly little tag for the chatroom, a lounge as popular as death row (though have chatted to a few really decent people in it on 2 occasions- since March!!!!) Is it thirty winks (oh! what a joy they are!) a day we all need a thousand winks a year don't we. A little extra time on the video thing too -god i try to contain myself-oh and of course a choice of how many colours for our profile to make it stand ou!!!t(only to those who choose to look) i feel like i have been truly selected as 'extra special'. An honour I guess??
Sorry about this ranting i must be hormonal!
I find what you've just said really interesting. I joined this site in May 2004. I've hardly been in here at all since December last year, just after it was sold and went commercial. I don't pay anything to be here.
It's only really in the last 2 or 3 days that I've started hanging out in here a bit once again. I don't really have much to say about it that I'd wish to comment on at the moment, other than it's clear from some of the stuff that's been said that I've read, that quite a lot of things have changed........maybe some for the good dunno maybe some not so good.
One thing I have noticed (about myself), and I'll put this in the form of a question, is this:
Why do I feel a tad insecure about expressing an opinion here about the site? Am I being silly or what?
Oh! And what is this thing about blue crosses against your name that I've heard mention of?
:undecided:

:undecided:

It's a special offer ... two for the price of one.
I think you're right to feel insecure about making adverse comments about the site but there's no need to worry if you're saying how good it is. confused

aint got a clue eager you tell us, you were never insecure about it before so why now.

is it a bit like a Debenhams sale dunno
:undecided:
I'm also an 'extras' member - and whilst some of the apparent extras are totally crap, to the point of being useless, I'm quite happy to spend a day to see who has been perusing my profile, or to be able to get into chat when server 2 is down. lol

I've never felt like this before dave. Certainly never in the place where I mostly hang out nowadays :rascal:

Have you only come back here to have a moan then? Why have you come back???
This is place is what you ALL make it - give some more and it will be more. Take a lot and it will die. Your choice.
cool
Nope Jags. I was being very careful, I thought, not to be seen to be having a moan. I thought my earlier remarks on this thread showed that.
All I was doing was asking why I should feel like this. Maybe being jumped on for asking the question goes some way to reinforcing my unease.

NOT being jumped on at all - it was merely a question. If a simple and honest question is regarded by you as being 'jumped' on then ...????
You haven't been here for a long time and are happy elsewhere so I do question why you come back here and complain about being insecure posting here. I'm lost - confused and puzzled.
dunno :dunno:
ES.....
the grass isn't always greener elsewhere... for example i could have typed the same thing about where you reside mostly now... i don't particually feel comfortable there.. and i feel happier here than "there"
but i thought that we had gotten past all this now..so why drag it all up again, the places are different and people will make the best of the situation however they see fit.....

Fair point fabio mate. Perhaps it's just the jitters from feeling a bit like a newbie again.
Nuff said I think. Hope that is a reasonable explanation of things

Hello again eager, nice to see you back, however i think that your approach was a little bit invitational to some criticism and was slightly verging on criticism of the site. SH has inevitably moved on since the "old days" but a few of the "lifers" are still doing the rounds and the place has settled into a great place to be again fr the most part.
We have all finally goten over the upheavel of the sale of the site and i think mentioning the fact that you "felt uneasy" saying certain things about the site was bound to ruffle a few feathers if your honest...??
best not to drag up the old "other places" and "feeling uneasy about voicing opinions (we voiced ours quite feverantly)" as this is long dead and buried.
Not having a pop tho eager, just an opinion and an observation, welcome back to SH!!
cool

I'll try not to be blunt wink as it is not my intention to be in this instance....
But what you have just said (quoted above) is what I thought when I read your earlier comment.
I guess when you have been here all along you don't notice the gradual change of avatars and usernames (those who drift away and those who slip in to fill a space or two).
May be it is like coming home after the 'Changing Rooms' team have been set loose on your house... you know you're in the right place but only a few things look familiar and who the fuck put that stupid lampshade up in my livingroom?
But even though the fixtures and fittings that made you feel you were home have moved or been replaced, it doesn't take long before you become familiar with the new ones - if you give it a little time.
I think it was a fair comment.... we have met couples (yes more than one) who are scared stiff to post anything in here for the fear of being made to look or feel stupid. They have wanted to join in and ask questions of what seems to be experienced swingers but just find some a little too abrasive with there sarcastic comments.
Not all find it so easy to take on the chin and find me one person who reads every single past post before asking a question.... I have often wondered why some find it so easy to try and put others down. No ones perfect are they.
Will it ever change.... No way. It takes time to realise not everything is done to put people down, not all newbies have the patients or stomach to hang around after being slagged off so quick.. Some may be really nice some may be as suggested just taking the pis* but unless all are given a chance who knows? If they then leave the site as a result we all lose…
Just my humble opinion......
Mike

No offence meant here but that does sound like bollox. To be slightly more objective in my opinion of your opinion...
You make it sound as if every newbie regardless of what they post is forced to go through a piss-taking ritual to see if they survive. Do you really think that is the case?
I gladly put my hand up to piss-taking - but I need something to take the piss out of in the first instance wink

Your right, my first posts caused all kinds of reactions.... Some were justified some were just people agreeing with others so as to fit in. It happens alot! My first ever post was a serious question though and no I didn't read all the previous posts nor did I read the rules, yes stupid but who does? It wasn't deliberate though.....

Not at all.... I passed on genuine comments made by genuine couples who use this site who are too scared to join in here! Some are not as confident as others thats all..

Well I am always happy to be taken the piss out of... as I say its all fun. Its when it gets too personal I think its out of order.... but you have to care to be bothered.
And just to show what I mean here is a pm recieved by someone not posting for the very same reason...
Not saying any names but please read....

Mike - totally agree with your post.
Certain moderators treat posters - NEW posters, usually, with such disrespect, attacking their opinion, attacking even their right to have an opinion (if, for example, they have recently come back from another site) that I feel totally unable to express any opinion which goes against the popular view.
Genuine pm from someone who does not post....

Most of this "bothers me" - but in particular, the bit I've bold'd.
I'm not putting myself forward as anything that I'm not - but my PM box is always open.

Sorry if this sounds a little simplistic, but The extras package is an optionalpackage
As far as I'm aware the description of what you get in the extras package in quite accurate i.e. you get exactly what it says you're going to get.
If you're not happy with what you're getting for your money or you don't think it's worth the money, why not just cancel your extras subscription dunno

Lost, good to see you in here, apreciate what you're saying, but am not going to comment at this time because in the last few days there has been (in my opinion) quite a bit of 'Agent Provocateur' stuff goind on and i'm not getting drawn in again.

I'd like examples too. And can you clarify 'new posters' cos you then go onto to say 'coming back from another site' - the 'coming back' bit indicates that they are not new posters.
