right i may as well tell it how it is,
i know a girl who i think has an std, my mate overherd her saying about it to his girlfriend, this was about a month ago, would a condom 100% cut out the risk of sleeping with her?
dont know what she has or even if she has anything but im guessing using a rubber will be safe,
if this is a load of rubbish please lock and delete but could someone let me know
right few typo mistakes, please just awanser the question and dont make fun of the mistakes,
thank you
Condoms are never 100% safe, since they sometimes break, but they do offer a great deal of protection against most (but not all) STDs.
If you want to know more, I suggest talking to a doctor rather then a bunch of perves :-)
Try (a free NHS information site aimed at 'young guns'!) to find out what people who really know about this sort of thing have to say.
Oh, and you can always edit your posts, by clicking the 'edit' button if you want to tidy up spellling
im not sure about the whole condom full protection thingy,
umm do you know she actually wants to sleep with you , and just because you think she might have something is causing you to think about condoms? shouldnt you use them anyhow.
if your at the stage of having sex with this lady, maybe you should therefore feel comfortable enough with her to talk first and mention what you overheard , or sod it all have sex and use that condom everytime, ok not the same condom everytime.
im talking crap , im off for mi t

If you look to the left of this page <<<<<<<<<<<< under the menu called INFORMATION you'll see a 'sexual health' link. Click on it and read.
wink
Condoms help.... but there is still a risk! STD's amongst the under 20's and the forty age group are at epidemic levels.
Dont forget........STD's are not only of the genitals. You gonna put a condom over your tongue? hehe Seriously! You can get bad throat infections and chlamydia of the throat!
Is it worth it???
Hope this young lady has got treatmet?
Take care and good luck

She should go to the GU clinic - not for your peace of mind - but for her own well being. Whether she thinks she has or hasn't - there is no harm in having regular checks if you are sexually active. May be you should go as well.
Condoms protect against most STD's but only for penetration and as already mentioned - if they don't break confused . Oral sex is a different matter - and I doubt you were thinking of using a condom then too. Of course a condom won't help you when it comes to lapping the gravy.
Check out some of the NHS sexual health sites.
thanks for the advice, i wouldnt sleep with her without a condom but i wondered if they would stop anything if she had it,
how long do these things take to clear up if she did get treatment?

that depends on what the dose was - some things never go away
BTW - you think she may be carrying an STD, you are not sure if she has sought treatment and you are considering this an appropriate time to dip your toe in the water confused
blimey
hope she is alright, what sort of things do these permenat std's affect?

Do they do condoms for toes.. sorry tasteless hi-jack there...
As for STD's some clear up quite quickly with the right treatment, as long as you go get it. Others are lifelong, like herpes. However it is only contagious when the spots are showing. Obviously some others show no signs and are lifelong, like hepetitus and HIV.
Condoms a good start in protection, as I hear is a spermicidal lube. However for oral sex you may want to consider using a dental dam. As for example herpes is the same virus as cold sores, and you dont want it over your face. Lots of nasties out there but most can be treated / avoided if you are careful...
serious they can kill ya?

hep a, b, c etc can kill and very contagious, aids kills as there is only treatments, not cures. herpes hurts like hell but wont kill you, neither will thrush. However oral thrush not somthing you want to have...
So play safe smile Risks still low, but be careful is the message...

My advice is just about to take a turn - go away - grow-up, read lots about STD's, HIV and all the other risks and don't try putting people on here at risk with your bloody ignorance! mad
And finally - please, please please - don't ever aks me to meet you.

Obviously skipped the sexual health lessons in school rolleyes these days you get videos, talks and lessons on the subject and I can't believe that someone is unaware that some stds are life-threatening.
how can anyone be ignorent of life enough to never have heard of aids?
Essex_young_gun you seriously need to go and see a doctor and get some proper advice. I am not suggesting you have any thing but if only to put your mind at rest.
Easyease, I think Im stalking you hun lol

could i just add to this that hep a is highly contagious but you do get over it without any probs as long as you are reasonably fit & healthy
but its still better to be safe than sorry!!!
blimey shoot me down ehh  , i was asking a question,
i was asking about chlamidia and herpes etc, not at all thinking of aids, or anything serious hence i was shocked, nothing like that was in my mind at all,

honestly i am shocked at the way this thread went, if ya user name aint a regular one up there you better watch out,
o yeah thanks for the link aswell steph, very nice of ya
Subscriber Trunk Dialing (STD) is nothing to worry about, contact BT and i am sure they can deal with your phone problem in no from what has been said I would recommend you just use your finger to dial for the moment.
Think we've covered your worries more than once. LOTS of advice has been given and LOTS of links to help you.
Enough, I reckon.
