I get asked this on a regular basis, from complete strangers, within the first few lines of communication (eg. hello, fancy camming, have you had many meets). Why do people ask this? Am I alone in thinking this doesn't even make sense? Many meets compared to what? On occasion I will reply "none of your business", which I know to be a fair reply yet is perceived as abrupt, if not bitchy. Do others get this? What do you make of this type of questioning?
We get asked it too. Our usual reply is along the lines of 'none of your business'. maybe it's our wierd way of looking at things, but we would be more interested in chatting with someone about the possibility of our next meet, than discussing or even thinking about the last.
I think some people just use it as an opening line as they dont really know what else to say to get the conversain going, but we usually explain that we have met hundreds and hundreds of people off this site, and at least 150 of them were at the last Munch we went to It either frightens the life out of them and never hear from them again, or it acts as a good ice breaker and gets the conversation going Now if they ask how many we have played with, that is a different matter and they get told in no uncertain terms that it is none of their business :twisted:
Speaking as a “newbie” couple , I cannot understand this question either it’s a bit like asking how many people do you know it maybe they are trying to “break the ice” but there’s better ways , I mean would you walk up to a stranger and ask “how many people have you slept with” :doh:

As a newbie as well, I put my hand up, I am guilty of asking that question..more like "have you met many people on here?" I guess I'm just new and genuinely curious to know if people do meet each other, what it's like, etc. Not intended as "how many notches on your bed do you have?" Having said that, it's never my opening line! Likely asked after intros and when we've been having a chat Am I forgiven?
Depending on the stranger that asks it, I usually find it's asked by a newcomer to SH who's simple trying to find out from people if the site actually works and that you can get to meet people off here etc. Bit like asking some people fishing if they have caught anything yet? If they answer no then possibly it's a crap place to fish (or their baits not up to it?! )

At the risk of re-igniting an old debate, I think one reason could be to gauge how hardened/experienced the subject of the question is. I'm sure this would be important to someone with little experience themselves.

"Do you meet?" might be a more direct way of finding that out. And I do reply to that! "Have you had any meets?" is a good question for the curious and also a way of asking if the website is working for one. I answer to that too! "Have you had many meets?" now! Do you want my time-meets graph in a histogram or a line chart?

Again, a question acceptably phrased! I like comparing notes as much as anybody! (A certain smartass of a forumite PMed me with this thread :lol. But perhaps not with every random stranger who has openly shared no info on their profile and can't even start a conversation with me - yet is asking me to divulge the details of my private life.

Funnily enough... my angler friend takes serious insult when people make such small talk! He finds it very intrusive :lol: and also a bit of a jinx. Is SH a good place to fish? Are your baits up to it?!

Cubes, if anything the feel I get is that they are trying to see if I am loose enough to fuck them :wary: Or else - as I am sure skinny would say - they're having a wank over it, aren't they!
We don't mind this question when asked for the right reasons, that being, when someone wants to establish wether we are genuine meeters or just here for the cams, pics or dreaming. The answer to wether it is the former or the latter is always given in the next few questions, what are you wearing, did you have fun, what did you do etc just tell us we have someone on the other end getting off on our experiences or in our case about to get very dissapointed. We will not discuss anything about our meets that is of an intimate nature, we do not kiss and tell and have no interest in hearing about other peoples sexual encounters.
we normally tell them had 20-30 inc ostrich kangaroo and crocodile which is normally replied to with a ??? or wtf .....at which point we explain we're dyslexic :silly:
I could tell them how many people I meet each year, approx., just for sex, but that would be very misleading, and most newbies either wouldn't believe me or they would be banging their heads off a wall 2 weeks down the road wondering what they must be doing wrong. I suppose I could tell them that that part of my life has nothing to do with swinging heaven....but I'm not sure I'd feel inclined to go that far in response to such a crass question. If the question was asked by anyone random in chat room or just by message it would be ignored. Other than that we dont have a problem answering it and as many have said would just view it as a verification question.

I think I'm a bit ambivalent about this question, to be honest. I'm like others who've posted, in that I wouldn't necessarily answer it were it asked by someone as an opening gambit. However I wouldn't be unduly offended by them having asked it.
