What you've said hasn't offended me. I was saying, if you're offended by what you know is in the thread, then don't read it. They are having a laugh - you're taking offence at it! If you don't read it, it won't. If you carry on reading, then it might offend, but that's not their intention so it's your choice to be offended.
As it is my choice to voice my opinions on this thread - as you chose to voice yours on my reply (in the same way you could have ignored it - but obviously it did stike enough of a cord with you to feel you had to reply!)

ok, i have read through all of this thread and i actually felt the origonal post was intended as having serious tones.
i understand also that many people have been having a laugh at it all.
what i want to say is that this topic may be trivial to lots of people and even those with ginger hair may find it funny. but i have to say as soon as it became apparent that it had started to offend i feel it crossed the line.
if this had maybe been about something else, like overweight, black disabled etc then it would not have been allowed.
the person who started the post did make it clear he was intending it to not be a funny thread but still the jokes carried on.
i know it has also been said that if its found offensive then stop reading it, but i feel that is unfair.
is it ok to insult the disabled as long as they dont read it??
to me it is not about the topic but the fact it offends.
some people have sufered deeply and been bullied just down to the fact of their hair colour, its not a joke.

My hair used to be a lovely carrotty shade when I was younger - it's gradually darkened to a shade of auburn as I've got older (although nos has white in it too!).
I've been called all sorts of names over the years and I was bullied at school. I grew up and got over it though - developed lovely thick skin. Now I can laugh about it, as can blondes who have many jokes made at their expense.
I don't think a bit of pisstaking about hair colour is the same as making fun of someone who is disabled though, fem. The original thread starter may have intended it to be a serious discussion and if it had, I think it might then have become worse than it has. I was one of those who was more cautious of how the thread might end up. I think the people who have taken offence may not have read the whole thing, as you have.

this is about hair colour for crying out loud...so do gingers think they are the only ones who have the mickey taken out of them/...i think not!You only have to watch Little Britain or Catherine Tate just to see it all the for joke that it is...wether its hair colour,chavs,little balding men in wheelchairs,gingers,TV's....i use to wear glasses at school....don't you think i had to put up with a bit of stick?....well of course i did...but i got other it!...over sensitivety...is going to kill as for the original question...even that's wrong...when was it considered racist to have a laugh at someone's hair colour....the next time someone says something stupid...will they now have to think twice before they say they had a "Blonde Moment"?

something small to one person can be a big issue to another, thats fine and everyone is entitled to a opinion.
my reasoning was not about the topic but the fact the way the thread was going was being seen as causing offence.
like i also said i understand people have faced bullying, just because some people are able to get through it does not make it ok.
we are not children in a playground now, but adults who should be able to empathise with peoples emotions.
if something is causing offense why continue to do it?this is not directed to anyone, just my observation.
regarding people having preferences to not wanting to meet ginger haired people i think that is acceptable, after all we do still have the right to say no to having sex with people we find unattractive. ive ofetn thought how much more sex i would get if i could enforce this ruling as wrong however. lol
again like i said i know this was "only" about hair colour, but if the way the thread was going was becoming offensive to some then i think its sad.
its often situations like this that comments start to get hurlled and peoples backs are up.
from little acorns great oaks grow and from little shits come big smells lol
and we all know its not the size that matters.
im rambling now, see what youve made me do. lol
but just remember ginger people have feelings to.
