Radio SH?

Last night I was in an IRC chatroom that has its own radio station. It was obvious that most of the people in the room were listening to the radio and they were having their requests read out and voicemails played on air and stuff, and I thought hey, how cool is that?
So I was just sort of wondering - does anyone on SH have their own streaming radio thingy or the ability to set one up? Could add a whole new dimension to the comm. smile

Someone with a huge record collection, a ridiculously fast connection, a passable broadcasting voice, someone to act as producer to handle the email/voicemail/txt, one or two nights a week free... pretty daunting task I admit, but the couple I was listening to were doing it from their own home and tarting in the chat room at the same time :D
Weird thing is I've been chatting on that server for ages and never knew that the Adults room had a radio show at weekends. It was really very impressive.
I think the fact that most of the people know each other added to the atmosphere of the thing, which is why I think if anyone on SH could do something similar it'd be a real blast. :D

Radio station sounds like a lot of fun - could open up a whole new dimension. Not quite sure how it would work but I guess that's detail.
The only drawback I can think of that people with kids around the house might need silence when on here to avoid being surprised by finding their little dear looking over their shoulder mouthing (unheard because of the radio) 'What's shagging Mummy?' lol

We have a massive MP3 selection and broadband but I'd be wary of doing this as I'm positive it would need a licence to broadcast because it falls under the public broadcast category.
Anyone can play mp3's for their own enjoyment and name the title in a programme like mIRC and if anyone else has a similar track/named the same they could get it on autoplay but that real problems with this :shock:
Anyone with children in the background would need to be wary as we can testify, a previous life in a general chatroom and someone with an addition to uncut eminem tracks :shock: sad
